January 18, 201412 yr Thank you very much George! Simmerhead - Making the virtual skies unsafe since 1987!
January 18, 201412 yr Downloaded this not realising it was produced by George Keogh - should have rea;lised this by the quality however, as he has produced some fantastic Irish regional airport/airfield scenery for FSX! Thank you again for this one George, but I hope this does not mean that we have seen the last of his Irish airfields are there are still a few more that warrant development. Still I will enjoy these as the Hawaiian Islands are one of my favourite flying areas. Bill
January 18, 201412 yr Scenery looks cool and thanks for the mesh suggestion! Installed and had a tour of the airports, so I want to comment on the mesh (mine) in the Library here. The mesh (Hawaii NPM) is setup for stock airports and George (Mr. Keogh) has altered a couple of the airports, so there are a couple of minor issues. On Kapalua-JHM the airport flatten has been extended towards the coast and there's some drop off at the edge. Around Molokai-PHMK the airport flatten has been extended a lot, so the area sits up above the surroundings. Both of these can be corrected within the mesh. In default FSX, Kalaupapa-PHLU sits too high, so I adjusted that with a revised airport and elevation (stub) file. This airport package was made for default elevations, so there is an issue at PHLU. I'll go back and see what it looks like without the airport adjustments I made, now that the leftover burrito has been eaten! Making corrections to the mesh shouldn't be too much effort and I'll probably end up uploading a separate package to work with George's efforts. But I need to take a little time getting in synch with George's work.
January 18, 201412 yr I agree. There seems to be an elevation problem at PHLU no matter what mesh is used including the 10m NPM mesh, mentioned above although he included an alt bgl for scenery\world\scenery.Great airports by George.Hope you can come up with a fix. Thanks,Ron Bring back Chief Illiniwek!University of Illinois.

January 18, 201412 yr I don't have FSX Acceleration; might this scenery still work in standard FSX? January 18, 201412 yr I don't have FSX Acceleration; might this scenery still work in standard FSX? Airbus Why not try it and see? I don't see anything off the top of my head that might pose a problem. Shouldn't break your FSX, though no guaranties are being issued... B) I agree. There seems to be an elevation problem at PHLU no matter what mesh is used including the 10m NPM mesh, mentioned above although he included an alt bgl for scenery\world\scenery.Great airports by George.Hope you can come up with a fix. Thanks,Ron Here is what I did to get things looking "better". With the add on mesh and disabling the airports files that came with the mesh, PHLU gets dropped down by 40'. As the mesh is pretty consistent around the area of the runway/airport, even though AirNav says the altitude is "surveyed", I still went with the higher elevation. In George's package are two airport files for Kalaupapa; PHLU_ADEX_GK.bgl and PHLU_ADEX_GK_CVX.bgl Adding an ".OFF" at the end of both the .BGL files will turn them off and make the airport files from the mesh package become primary. Looks good IMO, with the waves hitting a higher cliff on the NE . There is a little positioning difference between George's runway and the runway from the mesh, enough to notice but certainly not enough to render the runway/airport/area useless. It's up to the user of the software to decide how to setup the files. I'm going to have to ponder the mesh revision for this area. I can trim the coverage of Molokai to exclude the land area that Kalaupapa sits on or I can blend down to the default 24' elevation. I spotted a couple of small issues (beta tester eyesight!), so I think over the weekend I'll drop George an email and see about how to proceed on PHLU.

I have FTXG and their free Hawaii airports + George's free package. I deleted the duplicate airports from FTXG and George's package works great. Do I delete the duplicate FTX airports in order to use your mesh and airports? What is the best approach? Jose MSFS
January 18, 201412 yr I have Neil's work for the islands and made a quick-ish tour a few days back, but the memory is a ofg. The airport positioning with the mesh has been matched up to aerial imagery, as I believe Neil also did. His files are easy to decipher, as I tried to make mine. So a user just needs to go in and deactivate a particular set, depending upon which set they want to use. Or, in my case, someone has the payware airports for Hawai'i by FSDT and turns off any of the freeware options. And I'm a big fan of just renaming files from .BGL to .BGL.off, just in case I ever need to come back and look at things again. So easy answer Jose, use whichever you think works best. I do want to point out that I did not "add" anything into the airports that was not already there.
January 18, 201412 yr Thanks for this freeware. I have all the Hawaii airports from FSDT. There are no overlaps ..right? at PHMK Molokai, PHNY Lanai City, PHHN Hana, PHLU Kalaupapa, and JHM Mauai West. I don't think there are any overlaps Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
January 19, 201412 yr I don´t have this, I don´t have FSDT packages, I don´t have FTX freeware airports either. But it´s really tempting to fly there. So, anyone able to point me to right direction; if I d/l this freeware package, is it waste of money to go to FSDT (and if not, which of their packages should I start with). What about FTX freeware, does it work with these (and does it work at all without FTXG) with no problems.
