  • Well, Outerra has had only one variety of flora (pines) for quite some time, but have little birdies seen the future?

  • I think of it this way: there are two approaches to making a sim, particularly a flight sim. One is you make the planes and the things that go with the planes, and paste a somewhat satisfactory sketch

Clouds! I did see clouds in the video, didn't I at 4:48?

This is an important step if there is weather in Outerra! Oh I like all those improvements!

Not quite yet. The video creator resorted to some visual trickery but clouds and weather are actually on the way. One of the developers said yesterday that:

Clouds work reasonably well from the ground, that's why the videos have them. Up high and above the planet they do not work yet.

Meanwhile, Outerra is out in the world, gathering momentum. http://www.fmx.de/program2014/event/3482

Now you lads have done it. I'm excited for this. Very, very excited for this.

All we need now is some venture capitalist to get PMDG, ORBX and Aerosoft together and bring this baby home.. Flight dynamics and Aircraft modelling by PMDG, scenery by ORBX, and everything else by Aerosoft.. Hot diggity dang! We'll call the company PMBXSOFT. Or ORDGSOFT. Or anything. Someone just throw money at this engine! Ah, a guy can dream, no?

I agree that this really deserves great support from add-on developers, but since this engine is so different compared to FSX/P3D, I think it would be really hard for them to adjust if Outerra gets support from the community. I'm not sure if the landclass-based scenery from Orbx would work in Outerra.

Also, let's take "Soft" out of the name because it reminds me of Microsoft.  :P

That's why I'm talking about throwing money at the problem. Realistically, this is the only way I see it going. So either we attempt an IPO of a company wherein the lot of you buy shares to raise capital, and we then invest it in Outerra, or some god-sent billionaire decides he doesn't want a new Lamborghini, but instead, wants to fund our future!

Once the funding is there, the incentive is there. Get this billionaire-jeebus to set up a meeting with the big three, and offer them incentive (read: $$$) to come develop for Outerra. Sure, it'll take a while to get a hang of the scenery, but seeing how many professionals are working at it with sublime results, I'd think Orbx would do a stupendous job with it! ;)

Unrealistically, if Mr. RSR, Mr. Kok, and Mr. Venema all attend some sim-frat house party and get talking about Outerra... Hmm, who knows what could happen! xD

P.S, party at mine, all of you are invited, as are the three gentlemen mentioned above. One prerequisite: Only Outerra talk allowed.

Open bar.

I'll expect you lot at 8.

I see you guys like Outerra....

I`ll be following this topic!

You mustn't be afraid to dream a little bigger, darling
