Bummer...I was looking around at the view and then saw that...that...thing...

EDIT:  I should add that there are a slew of folks working figuring out the memory issue in P3D.  Look around for the posts.

This is something that will get fixed for those that are having the problem.  To post it here like this makes it seem like the sim is broke and not worth a look when in fact it's in far better condition than FSX is even today.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super OC 16GB - Pimax Crystal Light VR

The sim IS broken and it is not really in any better condition than FSX. I never had an oom in 7.5 years of FSX and and got one on my second flight with P3D v2.1 after never getting one with v2.0. No add-ons either.

That said, it is the future and I think people ought to buy it if they can afford it. It will someday be great. It has wonderful potential. But saying that it isn't in need of fixing is just denying reality.

Quit bashing FSX, Dillon.  Some people are loving P3D, and having a great experience, depending on what they are trying to do with it or how much they are willing to put up with.  Others aren't so happy.  I realize you hate FSX with a burning passion, but the fact is that a great many people regard P3Dv2 as still a work in progress compared to their more or less stable FSX.  The view that P3Dv2 is better than FSX no matter what is not a universal fact, as you make it sound, but only an opinion, that many do not happen to share with you.

How is it in better condition when you get OOMs so easily with default scenery and aircraft? Right now FSX is in a much more stable condition.

That is simply not true at this point in time.

I have never had an OOM with FSX no matter what I throw at it, it just runs really well now and frame rates are great.

This is from someone who has used both platforms and is in a position to give an opinion.

How is P3Dv2 running for you Dillon ?

Guys...they'll get to the bottom of it.  Let's give them a chance.

Nobody is "writing P3D off" Gregg.  I think quite a few of us are very excited about P3D, and its future.  Just this repetitive mantra from some that it's better to get OOMs or whatever one has to put up with on P3Dv2, rather than use their tried and true FSX, or that anybody who has the gall to express frustration with it is just being a sourpuss, is by now just a comical point of view, if not a dismissive one as well.

You should qualify your statement as being your personal experience. I have not had an OOM with 2.1. Are you implying that every user has the same problem as you do? Wouldn't there be more complaints on the official P3d message board if even a sizable percentage of users thought that the sim was "broken"?

There are tons of complaints. Just read. There are several very large threads here on Avsim about the subject. The sim is broken until that is cleared up. Can you imagine LM selling this to the military as a simulator, when the thing gets oom messages and crashes? Not pretty.

And just as an aside, and to counter your logic, I have personally never been to Jupiter, but from the numerous accounts I have seen, I believe that it exists.

There is a ton of OOM autogen threads on their Forum.. LM statement on the issue.

"We will be monitoring the forums and collecting data to help find/fix the issue. It will take some time to sort things out, though because the patch is still new and we're still getting a lot of vague and/or conflicting reports"

Vague and conflicting reports ...

Oh God. Not again.

Here is what will be required from those of us who have problems to satisfy some people: "Folks, it's all of us, not the program. When will we all realize that this is the ultra-perfect statement of flight simulation? To even discus the possibility that it might be slightly flawed is sacrilege!"

For goodness sake, even LM admits to the problem. Why are people so insanely defensive of this product? I fly the damn thing every day. I don't hate or even dislike it. But come on! There are issues that need addressing. Denying that just means they won't get addressed!

There is nothing vague about my experience. I got ooms on my second and third flights after the patch. I have no add-ons loaded. It was a clean install. I got the ooms with both high and medium density vegetation. Seems clear enough.
