March 3, 201412 yr Hey all, After two weeks solid flying in Orbx NorCal, I need a change ! Prior to that, I was flying exclusively in Alaska over the winter, so now I want a break from snowy textures, and I want some SUN! Therefore I'm headed for a few weeks virtual flying in the Caribbean. My base will be FlyTampa St. Maarten, (including Saba and St.Barts). I also own FlyTamps Grenadines, so will be flying there too, but can you give me any other recommendation for good quality sceneries for the Caribbean? (payware or good quality freeware) ? Thanks
March 3, 201412 yr For the Caribbean, look for scenery by Art Poole. I think he has done some really nice stuff for Florida and the Caribbean. You will also want to install Ultimate Terrain Tropical America and Caribbean. This payware improves coastlines and puts islands where they are supposed to be, not where MS just banged them in. Art's scenery is generally built with UT Tropical in mind. My computer: ABS Gladiator Gaming PC featuring an Intel 10700F CPU, EVGA CLC-240 AIO cooler (dead fans replaced with Noctua fans), Asus Tuf Gaming B460M Plus motherboard, 16GB DDR4-3000 RAM, 1 TB NVMe SSD, EVGA RTX3070 FTW3 video card, dead EVGA 750 watt power supply replaced with Antec 900 watt PSU.
March 3, 201412 yr http://www.strikingsoftware.com/pws.shtml Latin VFR & Tropicalsim have many payware airports. A good value if bought on sale. Jose MSFS
March 3, 201412 yr Yes I have all those, to really provide an eye-candy feast of island hopping flying! I have the Flight 1 Islander and Aerosoft Twin Otter ... I am ready for anything ... With so many layers of scenery though, there were a couple of complications I had to overcome. - Paul Elliott http://www.avsim.com/topic/450607-amy-johnson-london-to-australia-attempt/
March 3, 201412 yr Dave, A good area to fly. Suggest visiting San Juan, Puerto Rico. While LatinVFR completes its scenery project for TJSJ, BluePrint Simulations has freeware scenery to tie you over. You could invest in ImagineSim TSJS scenery, but it's a legacy product, making waiting for LatinVFR the better choice... unless you just can't wait. Have fun. dv Win 10 Pro || i7-8700K || 32GB || ASUS Z370-P MB || NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti 11Gb || 2 960 PRO 1TB, 840 EVO My Files in the AVSIM Library
March 3, 201412 yr The best TJSJ is made by Imaginesim. I never thought I'd say "the best & Imaginesim" together. But, their patch makes TJSJ awesome. I have a collection of Caribben airports and sceneries icluding freeware and payware airports by TaziGate. Dave, let me know if you want me to make a list. MSFS
March 3, 201412 yr Definitely check out Max Kraus's freeware for Barbados TBPB. Freely AES compatible as well. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
March 3, 201412 yr Barbados - Grantley Adams Int'l (TBPB/BGI) from Blueprint Simulations for FSX/FS9. Beautifully done airport with great attention to detail and a lush tropical ambience. And it's free! Get it here. - Jev McKee, AVSIM member since 2006. Specs: i7-2600K oc to 4.7GHz, 8GB, GTX580-1.5GB, 512GB SSD, Saitek Pro Flight Yoke System, FSX-Acceleration
March 3, 201412 yr Of course you have to do some WinAir flights. TNCM - TFFJ - TNCM - SABA - TNCM - TNCE - TNCM.TNCE St. Eustatius is a nice little freeware photo scenery and airport found here in the library as "fsx_st-eustatius_photo_scenery-photoreal_tower_and_terminal.zip" by Harald Sandvik Do some Caribbean Airlines 737-800 real life routes too, between TTPP - TNCM - MKJS - TNCM - TTPP Latin VFR has TTPP/MKJS and while they are older they still suffice. (TTPP is the better of the two IMO). You could even do American Airlines route KMIA - TNCM - KMIA (KMIA V2 is also by Latin VFR and very well done) Be sure to check out some LIAT flights too, while I was there (TNCM) a couple years back I seen a bunch of LIAT DH8's coming and going. LIAT do not use the Q400 but I did see a livery for LIAT and the Q400 here in the library. Do you have a Maddog? Both Dutch Antilles Express and Insel Airlines fly MD-80's into and out of TNCM. I know Insel Air has a route TNCM - MTPP - TNCM and the payware MTPP by Spectre is a nice scenery that flew in under the radar and is not well known, while it does not include anything off airport it is a fantastic rendition of MTPP. That should keep you busy Dave Al Stiff
March 3, 201412 yr Easy, Island to Island. Take along time to run out of them. Watch out foe the Mountainous terrain!
March 3, 201412 yr I have a whole lot of good Caribbean scenery from the Avsim Library authored by Paul Wheeler and named PW Sceneries there are several volumes. However, it may have been lost when the Avsim library got hacked a few years ago. John Rig: Gigabyte B550 AORUS Master Motherboard, AMD Ryzen 7 3800XT CPU, 32GB DDR4 Ram, Gigabyte RTX 2070 Super Graphics, Samsung Odyssey wide view display (5120 x 1440 pixels) with VSYNC on.
March 4, 201412 yr I breezed through this post...and even if they've already been suggested...Taxi2Gate has come out with 2 very high quality Carribean addons, on par with their high end releases of KMCO and MMMX recently: George F. L. Charles TLPC: http://secure.simmarket.com/taxi2gate-george-f.-l.-charles-airport-saint-lucia-fsx.phtml E. T. Joshua TVSV: http://secure.simmarket.com/taxi2gate-e.t.-joshua-airport-saint-vincent-fsx.phtml Both are fantastic hops to FT Grenadines or to eachother. Regards,Kyle
March 4, 201412 yr Wow, I clearly chose the right area  .... I'm amazed how much FREE stuff is out there (and thanks for the recommendations of it, as I didn;t know about most of it), for the Caribbean. I must admit, for the last day I've just been having a blast flying between FlyTampa TNCM, TFFJ and TNCM/SABA (although the latter isn't in the Reality XP database... shock horror!) I'm about to start checking out all the other recommendations today though. I visited St. Maarten for real in 2003; to attend the wedding of two Cirque du soleil trapeze artists  .. Flew in on an Air France 747 from Paris. I also had my first Honeymoon in 2006 in Antigua, so I'm interested in any good sceneries for there, so I can revisit in the FS world.
