March 14, 201412 yr Getting back to topic.... So is the demo/trial for ASN released for P3D2.1, but its not actually available for purchase yet? I tried to buy it but I can't find a link.
March 14, 201412 yr I purchased ASN (actually ASN upgrade from my AS Evolution) and install the Beta (Build 5173) of Active Sky Next for P3Dv21 (only) available freely on the download page : http://www.hifitechinc.com/Downloads Clouds views - P3Dv2.1 with hot fix default. I would think we would all be able to see the strange cloud rotation. But I cannot recall ever seeing it. There is a post on P3D forum requesting to "fix" this behaviour : http://www.prepar3d.com/forum-5/?mingleforumaction=viewtopic&t=5794 and another one, maybe more usefull : http://www.prepar3d.com/forum-5/?mingleforumaction=viewtopic&t=4353 Edited March 14, 201412 yr by vbazillio Vincent B. Check my free MSFS sceneries : https://flightsim.to/profile/vbazillio/trending and my hardware configuration.

March 14, 201412 yr Moderator The ASN license covers BOTH FSX and P3D versions. So if you buy the FSX version, you can use the key in the P3D beta version AND it will work in the P3D release version when it becomes available, at no extra charge. March 15, 201412 yr The question that's burning my tongue: 'better than Opus' ? Make that 'better than Opus and FSGRW' (Or is that FSGWR or FSRGW or FSRWG or FSWGR or FSWRG... I always forget.)
March 15, 201412 yr I looked as denos of OPUS, ASN, and FS Global. I prefer ASN not just for the clouds but for the ease of manipulating the options. I am very tired of fiddling options in ANY of the addons OR the primary fligh sim. I'll be sending $50 to Active Sky. regards, Dick near Pittsburgh, USA

I agree- I tried the OPUS demo and really didn't like the interface for the reasons you mentioned. I find ASN simple and intuitive to use.
March 15, 201412 yr I also purchased ASN, leaving REX Essentials Plus far behind. I found that REX3 had much more of what I didn't want (weather themes, wind holes, etc.) and a lot less of what I did want (simplicity, info regarding destination airport, and reliability). ASN is perfect for me, even the Beta version. I especially love ASN's weather-radar gauge, which I have implemented in all the aircraft I fly: piston props, turboprops, and BlackBox's Airbus A320 series. Frans Kes
March 16, 201412 yr Just a question: The list of products on the right side of the Active Sky page shows Acrive Sky Next but ONLY for FSX. Is this the product I should purchase for P3D also or is there some link I am missing? regards, Dick near Pittsburgh, USA
March 16, 201412 yr The same license applies to both FSX and P3D. For P3Dv2.1, you need to download the beta version. Frans Kes
March 16, 201412 yr Moderator Correct. We're still in open beta on P3D but the same license applies. The FSX version will not work in P3D. Vic RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
May 14, 201412 yr I am considering active sky next but had a couple of questions. 1)I am running prepar3dv2 - how does it work with this (I can see the fully paid version is FSX only?) how can I access the prepar3d version - if its beta I guess I need pay nothing at the moment? 2)Also how does it run with rex 4 and orbx scenery (I am running both) - does it compliment or conflict with them?
May 14, 201412 yr buy it, you'll love it. It runs great with P3D2.2. There are no issues with Rex textures that I've read about. Orbx scenery is a heavy load some times, but you can just dial things down. ASN isn't any heavier than any other weather product, but it gives you the most realistic depictions.
