Which 737-200... Milviz or Captain Sim ?

How many liveries come with the MilViz 737-200? Have they done any for European airlines?

RWF did you see my response? You CAN tell course deviation using the HSI. All you do is turn the OBS to align with the current leg track on the NAV page of the FMS. Ensure the HSI is slaved to the FMS by selecting FMS rather than NAV1 on the MCP.

Milviz hands down. I did own the CS version and since uninstalled it. My only gripe with the Milviz 737 after SP3 is that it will not follow a nav course until Alt. hold is engaged with the Sperry 77 autopilot, but hopefully they will find a fix.

Uh oh... I read your post Simba and read Bill N4GIX's post, I am mystified. You mean the A/P can't fly a radial in a climb or descent ?

Thanks, Bill. Being a primitive myself, I am mainly interested by the SP77. I gather then that, getting back to my SID example of the previous post, the SP77 would catch the outbound radial and that without any wobbling ?

Milviz 737 has SP77 with FMS configuration.

Just for information ... :

 

The more "primitive" model with only the SP77 is not doing VOR radials (navigation) properly ... as far as my testing went with MV737 SP3 installed.

 

This is the only model I have tested.

The FMS version contains the Sperry SP177... Not the sp77... Which is the older variant.

There are some issues that somehow crept into the SP3 version of the Sperry 77. I am aware of them. I am fixing them.

 

That is what should be the "take away" from this conversation. We won't simply pretend that it's the user's fault and ignore issues. ^_^

The FMS version is the Sperry SP177... Not the sp77... Which is the older variant.

Actually, in response to some customer's request we did add an option to install the FMS in the SP77 variant, although it's not 'wired' into the autopilot for obvious reasons.

 

The FMS will drive the CDI needle and the FD wings however, so one can manually track the course changes provided by the FMS.

 

On a personal level, I think it's rather silly, but some customers asked for it... :lol:

I don't own the CS 737-200 and never will because I my experience with CS support is the worst I've ever encountered.

 

I do own the Milviz 737-200 (and love it!) and generally receive a staff reply within minutes of posting  question to their support forum.

Thank you Bill for the needed clarification. Looking forward to hear some good news on that front.

 

I see on Milviz page that there is no Performance Data Computer System. Is there any plan to add one, might be more useful than a FMS on a SP77 :) ? CS has one albeit dysfunctional.

 

BTW, for those interested by the 732, CS has announced an update for May.

I prefer the CS737 due to better Vc graphics. I really dont care for an FMC either since there is no EHSI. I cant tell if I'm on course or not.

 

You should be using your radios to verify your position. All you need to do is tune any old nearby VOR and see what radial your on and how far away you are and then look at a map.

Then, why not just use the old fashion FMSless way, radio nav? Why pay for a FMS? BTW done that for yrs with 727's!

Because then you can't fly RNAV, which is becoming more and more of a requirement now a days.
