April 12, 201412 yr All right I backedup and deleted the four folders and it seemed good for a while then I started getting crashes again. Sigh! April 12, 201412 yr download and run MS Process Explorer, the task manager replacement Thank you Sir, I have downloaded that and I will try Unlimited,V-sync Triple buffer off :-)
April 12, 201412 yr yes What difference have you noticed, and at what values? I thought there was something wrong w/ the sun texture I have loaded because I notice the wonderful bloom-type effects I saw in 2.0 seemed to have vanished, but maybe they have changed exactly what HDR is doing, which is unfortunate if so. Have you tried a value that brings back more bloom-type effects? I tried 1 and 3 but noticed nothing different... April 12, 201412 yr It's strange, as the bloom effect seems to only work on certain things: The CDU screens are blooming like mad, but that's about it. Something has definitely changed. Regards,Brian Doney
April 13, 201412 yr what a/c is that? Looks nice with its weather radar http://majesticsoftware.com/mjc8q400/ Regards,Brian Doney
April 13, 201412 yr The CDU screens are blooming like mad, but that's about it. Something has definitely changed. Don't you have to turn off Mipmap VC Panels in the Q400? I think there was a thread about the Q400 not being compatible with P3DV2.x ... specifically the CDU. I love the Q400 and am patiently waiting for their P3DV2.x version. EDIT: AffinityMask=4092 seems to be working very well for me (cores 2-12). The A2A C172 has a sunglasses option, but I always thought that it was strictly cosmetic. Seems to have 3 modes, On, Off, and Automatic (assuming if the sun is facing the cockpit). Not sure it's working, it's very subtle if it is.
April 13, 201412 yr Rob, Did you updated your settings? If yes, will you please post it again. THX Ahmet Sanal "Time you enjoyed wasting, was not wasted"

I love the Q400 and am patiently waiting for their P3DV2.x version. That is true, (the mips off requirement) but it's not a big deal. If I want mipped VC textures I'll make them myself  That said the Q400 doesn't do so well with mips even in FSX. By default, none of the VC textures are mipped, and you don't want to add them, either  It's worked quite well for me otherwise, though I am far from experienced enough with it to be certain there are no other issues. If there are, though, I can't say that I've noticed. The CDU is fine as far as I can tell, other than being a bit difficult to read without SSAA, but that was true in FSX as well. Regards,Brian Doney
April 13, 201412 yr EDIT: AffinityMask=4092 seems to be working very well for me (cores 2-12). W/ AM=4092 I had very high CPU usage % on those cores but truly couldn't see any difference in overall performance so went back to HT disabled. April 13, 201412 yr Author It's strange, as the bloom effect seems to only work on certain things: Sounds like the DX10 bloom in FSX, where certain parts of the aircraft's cockpit get bloomed like mad. I wish they'd make it look like the DX9 bloom, with maybe less intensity on the runway/airport lights. It looked amazing with the sun.
April 13, 201412 yr Moderator Keep in mind that when modeler's create the FSX Materials in GMax/Max, there are options to not enable or allow bloom, not allow 'base material specular', and so forth... April 13, 201412 yr Author Could this mean that the HDR was tweaked in a negative way in 2.1? http://www.prepar3d.com/forum-5/?mingleforumaction=viewtopic&t=6536
April 13, 201412 yr Did you updated your settings? If yes, will you please post it again. Yes, here they are: http://www.robainscough.com/Prepar3D_Settings_2.html Still not using NI. Affinity=4092 That's it.
April 13, 201412 yr Could this mean that the HDR was tweaked in a negative way in 2.1? http://www.prepar3d.com/forum-5/?mingleforumaction=viewtopic&t=6536 Well it has been changed no doubt, though I'm not sure it is necessarily a bad thing. I remember seeing much better runway lighting effects et al, but I also remember it was pretty easy to completely wash out the virtual cockpit in certain conditions, with no option but to turn off the effect if you actually wanted to see anything. Integral lighting also had a tendency to bloom a bit too much at times. I personally feel that the biggest issue it had, was that from the start it darkened the scene a bit too much, pushing the contrast over the top. Now, it seems that in order to fix the over-bloom/washout, rather than lessen the amount of darkening, they've instead lessened the amount of bloom. I would have rather they went the other way, leaving bloom as it was and keeping the scene a bit brighter to begin with, but there may very well be a reason they weren't able to do that.
