April 23, 201412 yr Hi all After reading http://www.prepar3d.com/SDKv2/LearningCenter/utilities/camera_configuration/custom_post-process.html I understand P3D now supports custom shaders. Basically, all you have to do is edit your cameras.cfg to add up to 16 shader effects to the views you want. P3D ships with example shaders. Fisheye, for example, perfectly works in VC view when added : [CameraDefinition.002] Title = Virtual Cockpit Guid = {C95EAB58-9E4A-4E2A-A34C-D8D9D948F078} Description = This is the description of the virtual cockpit view. Origin = Virtual Cockpit MomentumEffect = Yes SnapPbhAdjust = Swivel SnapPbhReturn = False PanPbhAdjust = Swivel PanPbhReturn = False Track = None ShowAxis = YES AllowZoom = TRUE InitialZoom = 0.7 SmoothZoomTime = 2.0 ZoomPanScalar = 1.0 ShowWeather = Yes XyzAdjust = TRUE ShowLensFlare=TRUE Category = Cockpit PitchPanRate=30 HeadingPanRate=75 PanAcceleratorTime=0 HotKeySelect=1 PostProcess00=Fisheye Now, this leads me to think it should be possible to implement atmospheric effects to P3D via an appropriate shader. I woulk like to achieve what Pascal_LSGC achieved with Xplane : http://forum.avsim.net/topic/433908-experimenting-with-art-controls-raleigh-scattering/ (look at the blue distant mountains / hills) But here I'm stuck : I have no knowledge in shader coding. Maybe could we join our forces to bring this effect to P3D ?

April 24, 201412 yr That looks absolutely incredible. Hopefully we might get some help from LM with regard to a custom Rayleigh scattering shader. Shuai Li

March 11, 201511 yr dgraham1284 - what is that link you posted? I clicked on it and both my screens went to black and I could not do anything to bring back anything on either monitor. I did a Ctrl/Alt/Delete but nothing changed. The only thing I could do was to push and hold in my Start button on the computer and force a shutdown. It took a long time to re start and still not everything is running like it did before.
March 11, 201511 yr Commercial Member Stratorcruiser, I just opened it and it is just a link about pixel shaders on the msdn site. Nothing nasty. March 11, 201511 yr All for a Rayleigh shader too (maybe as an sub-option to HDR). Have you posted this as a suggestion on the P3D site?
March 11, 201511 yr I woulk like to achieve what Pascal_LSGC achieved with Xplane : Wow. Is that with Xplane 10? If only their aircraft flew realistically I'd most likely switch. March 11, 201511 yr Wow. Is that with Xplane 10? If only their aircraft flew realistically I'd most likely switch. Wow. Now that's a weird comment (again). If anything then the flight model in X-Plane is superior to FSX/Prepar3D... [email protected] ∣ Asus ROG Strix B650E-E ∣ 64Gb@6000MT ∣ NVidia 5090 FE
March 11, 201511 yr Commercial Member I agree with you carlito for default aircraft. I do feel that argument is always used against fsx or prepar3d but the fact is all the best aircraft eg a2a and pmdg actually use their own flight models which then negates xplanes advantage in flight dynamics. I fly all sims and like them all in different ways as they all have benefits and drawbacks. I'd love the atmospherics of xplane in prepar3d though! Trafficpilot does actually know what he is talking about given that he is an instructor and also flys professionally in his job reporting on traffic flows for the radio.
