...and it would have been a lot easier (and quicker) for the original asker of the question to just go to the manuals rather than post here.

Sure, my typing could have been cut down significantly by just answering the question, but it would also be a lot quicker to hand someone a fish than it would be to teach them how to fish.  The latter helps the person more, however, and disassociates the person from external reliance for food [knowledge].

The forum has seen this debate thousands of times, and the response is still the same:

Encouraging reliance by simply providing answers doesn't help anyone grow - no matter how much people assert that it's the "friendly" thing to do.

If your buddy needs to borrow money from you every day because he's too lazy to work for it, are you going to keep handing him money, or tell him to go earn it?  You may claim it's entirely different, but it's rather similar.

I've earned my knowledge by reading the appropriate manuals and books.  I give some back out of charity (I have a YouTube channel full of free knowledge), but I'm not the type who's going to simply hand it out to everyone individually.  I'll point you to the job to go earn your keep so that you might be able to help others.

great thanks for this lesson!

As I do have thick skin and ones opinion on how another should live his life is appreciated! And your opinion is pretty much telling my priorities are not in order! The video I find offensive for B unnamed reasons! Kyle is welcome to his opinion and I did kind of glance over the intro! But I did not recall that being there! My apology, but one thing should be understood, my kids are my life and that is priority number one in my life so as far as I am concerned that is correct! If the poster of the video doesn't have time for that keep that to yourself!

Thanks, O. Skinner

Yeah well, and how does that mean others should spend their time giving you what you want?

You know what? My family is also priority number one in my life. Will you pay my bills so that I don't have to loose time with that pesky "job" thing?

All I asked was were they going to fix the problem with the GPU still being connected sometimes after takeoff and during taxi! Kyle pointed out it was in the manual the fix and the solution! I never asked anyone for anything! He did point out where it was located in the manual. So to keep approaching me about asking for something that i I did not ask for is out of line. Some of you are breaking your own rule by not reading. I find the video offensive because I am African American and it shows us in a negative light! It is ignorant and I don't appreciate it at all! You should know the demographics of some of your fellow simmers before posting some things. I work hard to put to bed the negative imagine that some African Americans are giving people! So to post something like that video, yes I find it offensive. I never asked anyone to pay my bills and to compare paying your bills to

asking about a fix is not comparable at all. Some guys turn simple questions into an all out witch hunt! And my kids are not exuses they are people to be clear on that! People who don't have kids, don't know what it's like, to raise kids and to call me spending time with my kids an excuse is absurd! If you have kids there is no MANUAL on how to raise them!

Thanks, O. Skinner

The catalyst "once again" was Kyle's sarcasm, all be it subtle this time. But why the rest of you have to jump in and transform this thread into a pile of junk baffles me.

I've come to the conclusion you are all suffering from "T7 ER Deprivation Syndrome".... the acronym for which is embarrassingly TERDS.

So, ask yourself a question, by responding in this thread negatively, am I a TERD?

This is a complete joke now   :Praying:

O. Skinner, had I known that might of offended African American users, I wouldn't have posted it. It shouldn't. It was supposed to parody the fact that some of us spend way too much time on sim-related activities. No one here was the butt of the joke.

As one who appreciates humor more than the next man, I can appreciate your humor of the situation !  It's just I get tired of the negative stereotypes  of  African Americans that are out here. I distance myself from those by making the most out of my life. Albeit some of the stereotypes are deserving, I don't approve of it still. I enjoy simming WHEN I get a chance to due to an already hectic schedule. I never asked for hand me downs in my life and will continue to live in that fashion. Kyle and his sarcastic replies are always expected, because, he has knowledge of a lot of things I will not take that from him, but to tell people the reason why they didn't have time to read a manual is  not excusable was totally out of line. Sometimes Kyle you should try walking in other peoples shoes before,  you make some of the statements that you make. Some days I have wasted a whole day searching the net for answers and yes I do read manuals, but by the time get back to reading it due to LIFE, I draw a blank, due to I have million things going on in my head. You try chasing a 2 year old, arguing with a teenaged daughter, taking care of my Dad who has a failing liver, trying to coach football, and work 10-12 hours a day, and last and not least deal with the Wife,!  Excuses hardly! You have some guys that are scared to come on this forum and ask for knowledge due to this one reason. Let's all be friends here that's what this community is about. :P

Thanks, O. Skinner

I agree. We have no idea what goes on in your life, and we shouldn't for a second be arrogant enough to tell you what you have time for or what you don't.

Refraining from sarcasm, refraining from arrogant presumption and making an effort to be patient with people would eliminate much of the nonsense that goes on in this forum.

Frequently I think "why didn't they read the manual, do some research" but I wouldn't for a second reply with sarcasm or arrogantly presume I understand what the poster has time for or doesn't.

Hakuna Matata!

What a wonderful phrase Ollie :p0805:
