Frooglesim vs. FSXGenius - a general concern

Are computer parts in Europe expensive?  Just curious.  GTX 780 TI in US is 460 Euros.    Devil's Canyon 4790K is $269 everyday price right now.

I agree that price quoted to patrico is too cheap.  But not by that much.  For a fellow simmer or a friend, I could do that work for about $950 and the labor would be free.  No, I have a day job and am not looking for work!  But if I was doing it to help someone out, that would be my price.  Maybe cheaper depending on what socket the mobo is.

Yes computer parts in Europe are quite expensive! For a 780Ti your talking as low as 479 Sterling thats roughly 603 Euro my 780Ti was 800 Euro at the time, they have dropped in price. The 4970K is 259 Sterling, roughly 326 Euro. So quite a difference in prices compared to the USA. On top of all that, we have to buy online as we don't have any 'good' stores in Europe (Ireland) its all PC World that doesn't really sell anything PC related. Luckily though, there are very good sites such as Overclockers.co.uk and Scan.co.uk that provide all the necessary hardware.

Probably because such a post would have been off-topic in that forum. The same video is linked in this very thread (a few posts above), and has not been removed - at least not yet.   My take on watc

  • This whole building up trust thing and then screwing people over reminds me a lot of that "hack" that nearly destroyed AVSIM. The whole thing is centered around trust.

  • What I don't understand is why he would take the money and run?  What he is offering is not exactly complex... Offer to build a custom spec machine and tune it for FS, add a profit into the whole buil

Wow.  I know that in places in Europe you have VAT and that really punches the price up in my opinion.  Could you mail order from here?  Usually much cheaper than New Egg and Tiger Direct.

EDIT: Sorry, I just checked the terms of that site and they don't ship outside the US.  But if you found a mate that would pick it up and ship it to you via FedEx or something, would that help the price?

I actually hang out (read that as lurk) on occasion at Overclockers.co.uk.  It's a good site.

I have a good friend in Portland Oregon that works for Intel designing chips, he helped me out by saving me atleast 100 Euro on the 4770K.

Sweet.  Ask him when we'll see X99 Wellsburg boards and Haswell-e CPU's, please!

Haha - unfortunately secrets are secrets  :Hypnotized:

Yep, I know...  I figure the development of the Maximus VII Extreme or Maximus VIII Extreme with the X99 chipset is so far away that I'll have to do what I told someone in another post not to do - 4790K Devil's Canyon on a Maximus VI Extreme mobo.

This isn't a court of law. It's a public forum where opinions are made. The guy is a scumbag. No need to dance around it.

"He was arrested earlier today and interviewed by Police. He has admitted that he did take money without fulfilling orders as he used the money to pay down debts. He then tried to get more orders to cover the difference and it backfired."

This has been an interesting thread, lots of thoughtful (and entertaining) responses.

I can't help but think this guy's financial strategies - do new business to cover old debt you can't pay back - is learned from the current state of the entire, corrupt global financial system, as basically, that's how it operates.

And the minute the new "sales" (of financial instruments) slow...... KABOOM!

It's criminal whoever's doing it, whatever the scale or seemingly logical justifications.

And again, the biggest damage of all? A pervasive destruction of trust.

This damages the ability to do business, sustain trade and maintain financial and currency legitimacy, with all the ensuing chaos that entails.

Round 'em all up, I say! :)

Patrick Horan aka Patrico

  • 3 months later...

Just been reading through this whole thread. Lots of conjecture following my video.

He was arrested and questioned numerous times and each time released on police bail. I received the following the other day from one of the people he scammed. Please bear in mind that despite the message he is, as Patrick pointed out, still "allegedly" scamming people. I had 2 people contact me just yesterday in fact.

Anyway, here's the message I was forwarded which originates from the investigating officer at Halifax Police. I have not spoken with the officer who sent the message, and it is entirely possible this too is all being fabricated by someone, but I am in direct contact with at least 4 people who have all forwarded me messages from the same officer. I have withheld the officers information from the message.

Matthew HARDY answered his bail today and was formally charged with fraud by false representation.

He has been remanded on bail and will be attending Calderdale Magistrates’ Court on 20th November 2014 in relation to 16 offences, which includes your complaint.

Should you wish to discuss the matter further please feel free to contact me by email or on the number below.

Kind regards,

What evidence is there for that statement - you don't provide a link?

As I think I said in my previous email "Here's the message I was forwarded which originates etc etc". It's an email that was forwarded to me by one of the guys involved in the case.

Why didn't you give the contact details that were given and let allow us to check them/ The originater gave them and were not confidation..

That would be relatively easy to confirm by contacting the court. Or at least not being a solicitor checking the archives after the event.

I've watched some of his videos and have to say there's not much in the way of "genius" in them!

Honestly, when guy is calling himself a genius, in my eyes he is either an egocentric or an egomaniac. One thing that amazes me is that that the guy continued to fraud people after he was arrested! Some serious issues that guy has.

I was watching several of his videos on YT few months ago, and just by listening I drew a question mark above his head, something was fishy just watching/listening him in the videos.
