Frooglesim vs. FSXGenius - a general concern

Gerry, it's pretty clear to me. He accepted the gentleman's 400 quid with the promise of delivery of a custom computer. He not only never sent the computer, he never even bought the components for it. I read just the other day that he'd been arrested and jailed already for one such event.

Probably because such a post would have been off-topic in that forum. The same video is linked in this very thread (a few posts above), and has not been removed - at least not yet.   My take on watc

  • This whole building up trust thing and then screwing people over reminds me a lot of that "hack" that nearly destroyed AVSIM. The whole thing is centered around trust.

  • What I don't understand is why he would take the money and run?  What he is offering is not exactly complex... Offer to build a custom spec machine and tune it for FS, add a profit into the whole buil

Can't patrico post for himself?

I'd like to hear more that ...I read just the other day that he'd been arrested and jailed already for one such event.

Well, you frequently presume to speak for others, so...

I am glad FSXGenius was never even on my radar screen. I hate seeing someone take advantage of others in need of help and guidance. I probably would have been obsessed with trolling his Facebook and Twitter, rather than focusing on something reasonable and productive. It makes me angry just thinking about it.

I felt extremely vulnerable when building my first computer from scratch, but I certainly knew better than to trust a guy on YouTube with more than 1000 of my hard-earned dollars. No way. Not gonna happen. Ever.

I've learned similar lessons the hard way.

Hi, Fr. Bill -

Two comments-

1.  Thank you for bringing that to our attention that FSXGenius has been caught by the law, and an investigation is under way.  That should settle some of the questions here...

2.  Froogle gets a "C-" in grammar for his page...  Not that he cares!

what did he steal from you?

Don't know why you keep defending him for. If some one doesn't  deliver  the goods and takes your money is defraud or stealing  doesn't matter how you want to call it.

Business malpractice perhaps? Look at all of the problems we have had over the past few years with the banking and finance industry and look where they started from. Then look at the flow on effect worldwide, especially for small business owners and those that do not have the luxury of a guaranteed weekly pay cheque. Then maybe take a look at some inexperienced business owner trying to make a living when he is in debt and those debts are piling up.

An error of judgement perhaps? An immaturity when it comes down to the intricacies of managing a day to day cash flow when setting up a business. I don't know the circumstances, so I will refrain from calling it stealing and deliberate fraud at this stage. As far as I know this person has not been before the courts at this stage. So he is by definition "innocent until proven guilty of stealing" at this stage. Foolish? It would certainly appear so. Deliberate fraud and theft? The verdict is not yet in. Either way, he will get his comeuppance.

Although it was a low act , Unfortunately I dont see how he is going to be charged and sent to the courts over it . The money was handed over voluntarily and that makes complicated

This isn't a court of law. It's a public forum where opinions are made. The guy is a scumbag. No need to dance around it.

"He was arrested earlier today and interviewed by Police. He has admitted that he did take money without fulfilling orders as he used the money to pay down debts. He then tried to get more orders to cover the difference and it backfired."

unfortunately he has not been arrested he is still out there scamming naïve people like me. he told me I needed a new graphics card due to all my extra addons and told me he would  supply and fit a NVidia GEforce GTX 780ti,16 MB of extra ram, a liquid cooler and overclock the CPU to 4 MHZ all for 400 pounds which he needed in advance. He then just disappeared with my money. I am disabled and in a wheelchair

many thanks

Sorry to hear that Patrick. There are a lot of people with disabilities enjoying flight simming and its particularly revolting that some one within the community would take advantage of that.

A quick update on FSXGenius.

He was arrested earlier today and interviewed by Police. He has admitted that he did take money without fulfilling orders as he used the money to pay down debts. He then tried to get more orders to cover the difference and it backfired.

He has been released pending an investigation.

This brings the matter to an end. Please don't go reaching out to the muppet with scads of hate mail - he has got what was coming and now we let the slow long arm of the law do what it does.

News Via one of his customers who has been working with authorities. At this time, and as always, any wrong doings remain alleged (innocent until proven guilty).

Has he been jailed or not - it's surely a matter of record?

He may eventually be released with any police action: on the other hand he may be charged, convicted, and jailed.  I suggest no one still knows.

It's worth pointing out that it isn't necesarily criminal not to  deliver goods that have already been paid for. Many honest firms  do this simply because they simply got it wrong and hat's not criminal.

Finally remember Edgar Allan Poe's words - that are even more relevant in the era of social media:

Believe only half of what you see and nothing that you hear.”

Gerry Howard

£400 for all that hardware? I would be able to tell right off the bat that price is too good to be true! My 780Ti cost me a near €800 alone thats £640 or so, for the CPU if its an i7 you're talking over £200 and then for the labor maybe another £100-£200. Liquid cooling is also an expensive way to go, but worth it in every way! I'm sorry to hear you have been scammed and I truly hope you get your money back!

  • 2 weeks later...

He has not been arrested yeti. The police are not taking it seriously at the moment. I followed a link from a previous post , but just receivied an emai thanking thanking me for completing a survey!a What's going on Feels like. I have been scammed again

many thanks

@ patrico - I could overclock your setup to 4GHz for nothing if you were in Ohio.  Go to Overclockers.net and see what's there.  There's probably step-by-step instructions you can follow.  I've reached 5.2GHz on my 3770K and at last check was the 6th fastest 3770K worldwide running on water cooling.

Are computer parts in Europe expensive?  Just curious.  GTX 780 TI in US is 460 Euros.    Devil's Canyon 4790K is $269 everyday price right now.

I agree that price quoted to patrico is too cheap.  But not by that much.  For a fellow simmer or a friend, I could do that work for about $950 and the labor would be free.  No, I have a day job and am not looking for work!  But if I was doing it to help someone out, that would be my price.  Maybe cheaper depending on what socket the mobo is.
