May 25, 201412 yr Just saw this for everyones situational awareness. Watched a few videos. http://www.pilot2atc.com/pilot2atc/ Will keep eye on this.
May 25, 201412 yr Author wow looks very well done. i hope it gets released soon Think it is, I see a demo is available.
May 28, 201412 yr This thing is ready for purchase, and I believe it has a 15-day free trial period. Additionally you can download the pdf manual for free. I watched all the tutorials. Looks quite intriguing! It features live ATC Chatter, which you can download for the areas you'll be flying in. Personally, I'd rather hear chatter from AI planes in my area, but let's face it; that's not yet really very well developed in X-Plane. This will do until it is. This also works for FSX, P3D, and FS9. Before I download the free demo though, I need to learn how to set up a second screen using a separate networked computer. I don't want my flight screen cluttered with pop-up windows! If you're interested in this, do watch the tutorials. It's pretty well explained, and they don't take very long. This could be what we've all been waiting for in ATC for XPX! Happy flights! Tom
May 29, 201412 yr The coverage is world-wide, but the sectional and terminal charts it uses are only available for the USA. The good news is that it uses OSM street maps and world-wide satellite maps. Another downside I discovered is that it only works with Windows operating systems. So this program won't have the universal appeal I had hoped.
May 30, 201412 yr I sent an email to Pilot2ATC, asking about multiple screen setups, and I got a cordial reply from a fellow named Dave. With his permission I am including the thread of our conversation. Thought it might answer questions others might have. Tom Wrote: Your application sounds like something I might like to try. Before doing so, can you tell tell me if, when using FSX, must I operate in windows mode? I ask because it is important to me to operate in full screen mode, in which case I would like to be able to move the popup screens to a second monitor, so they don’t clutter up my cockpit. Having all those pop-up windows in the cockpit would spoil the immersion for me. I use X-Plane as well. Assuming that Pilot2Atc will work in full screen mode for FSX, will it do so in X-Plane? I realize that to have a second screen in X-Plane I must set up a second computer on a network and run a second copy of X-Plane. I have not yet done this, which is why I’m asking these questions in advance. Before I go to the trouble and expense of setting up the network, I need to know that I’ll be able to move the pop-ups over to a second monitor. I want to do this before I try the free demo. If on the other hand what I want to do is not possible then I won’t bother with the demo. Hope you understand my position. Dave responded: Thomas, As I recall, FSX in full screen mode takes over the single screen it is running on. If you have a second screen, you should be able to run Pilot2ATC on that second screen. I run FSX on multiple screens, but each screen is a separate "window" and I've had to piece them together to get a wider view across several screens. Pilot2ATC runs on top of any of those screens. Since P3D came out, I've favored it over FSX primarily because, like X-Plane, a single window can be stretched across any or all of my screens, giving an incredible experience. My favorite configuration is to spread it across 3 screens and have Pilot2ATC at the far left of the left screen, out of the way but visible and handy. I am eventually going to get another touch screen and run Pilot2ATC on that, leaving 3 full screens of simulator! The one caution on P3D and FSX is that by default, the sound is stopped when you take focus away from the program by, for example, clicking in another program. (Very disconcerting to have your engines quit making sound at altitude just because you went to set a radio frequency or check a map.) However, there is a checkbox on the Sound page that you can set to not Mute when Focus is Lost. For X-Plane, I run it across 6 screens on one computer. You do not need a second computer. Just run it in windows mode and put the screens in Extended Desktop mode. You should then be able to stretch X-Plane or P3D across however many screens you can set up as part of a Windows Extended Desktop. I('m using Windows 8 now, but used to use Windows 7 with multiple screens, not sure about earlier versions.) So, the short answer to your question is that Pilot2ATC should work for you as long as you have a second screen...and I recommend the windowed mode across multiple screens. I have 6 screens arranged 3 across and 2 high to give a truly awesome experience. Amazing what lots of USB ports and USB to VGA adapters can do for you. Hope this helps, Dave
May 30, 201412 yr This looks like a sort of GA ATC simulator. A good effort but I didn't notice if there was a way to import flight plans, or deal with standard arr/dep procedures. Not much good to me then, but encouraging nonetheless. I must admit I was quite shocked when I saw the price!
May 31, 201412 yr Commercial Member deetee Pilot2ATC does provide the ability to import and export flight plans to/from X-Plane or FSX/P3D format. If you create your flight plan with SIDs and STARs in either PLN or FMS format you can import them into Pilot2ATC. Unfortunately, it does not let you build your flight plan by just naming the SID or STAR. When building flight plans in Pilot2ATC you must enter each waypoint by clicking on a NavAid in the map or entering identifiers in the FlightPlan. So for named intersections, SIDs and STARs, importing the flight plan is the better method. If you want to load the flight plan into your FMS it will make the most sense to build the flight plan in PLN or FMS format, load it into the FMS and then import it into Pilot2ATC. Hope this clarifies. Dave
June 3, 201412 yr Author Anyone have any success stories? Trying it out now on XPX. Just now realized it was VoX.
June 4, 201412 yr Vincent, Is it Vox with a new UI? That's an awful lot of stuff running in the background. I did see that they now have an introductory price of 39.95 USD.

June 4, 201412 yr It's voice controlled ATC. Hi Vincent, Ok, so it's not the same guys that made VoX ATC. Still very good news as it looks to be working decently. Let us know your impressions and comments when you've been able to put it through it's paces.
