Flight 1 GTN750 Video

Featured Replies

This is what I'm trying to figure out.

I'm presuming it comes with 2011 data (this is when the GTN trainer is from).  The data is all USA only unless you spend $25 for the full trainer DVD:

Then if you want to update officially you'll need to spend (way too much money) to update your various databases.... see this page:

https://fly.garmin.com/fly-garmin/support/pricing/

(or spend 1700 bucks for worldwide entire update dataset): https://fly.garmin.com/fly-garmin/pilotpak/

So basically , even though the GUI and components of the GTN750 are better than the RXP 530W, we're still screwed for updating the database.  Unless you have money under your mattress just waiting to be spent.

BTW, this isn't meant to be a stab at the F1 product.  It looks very very good - I'm just frusterated with the update options....  there's no way I'd ever spend that kind of money.  Maybe I'll email Garmin and see if there's some sort of "flight sim" month old database update they could create.

Ryan,

Thanks for the answers and links to the official database update pricing.

That updated navdata and charts pricing is out of my reach.

Only the terrain data is USA only. As far as i am aware, the navaid and airport data is worldwide.

to get worldwide terrain data you need the DVD

What up?

Problem is .. the Navdata is from 2011,  very old. To get it current (2014 navdata) would cost alot $$$.

I could manage the terrain CD ok for $25.

Hi,

I remember seeing on the Flight1 Forum (very briefly until it became hidden), where I believe Jim Rhoads stated that you would be able to buy the data base directly from Garmin as a one shot deal as one cycle, or a yearly subscription. He stated very clearly, not to cheat, but buy from Garmin directly. I don't remember the prices he mentioned, but here is a link to the Garmin site that may shed some light on how much it may cost to update yearly or just one cycle:

 https://fly.garmin.com/fly-garmin/support/pricing/

It looks like you can pick and chose which components you would need or like to buy. I assume these data bases would work with Flight1, but I'm not really sure?

So for example, for $195, you could buy the latest USA Navigation Data.

Hopefully someone from Flight1, or who has access to the Flight1 forum, can retrieve that information and post it here. I believe there will be some who will pay these prices to have a more up to date database.

This is an exciting new product.

Gigabyte Z370 Gaming 7, 2TB M2.NVMe, RAM 32GB

All the links I put out are the correct ones....  And it's not cheap at all....

It's not even in the same league as ANY flight sim entertainment product (since that is F1's favorite word)

Alright I deleted a bunch of messages, try one more time to PM me.  If it doesn't work I'll have to contact avsim admin (admin if you're out there)

Bill, those prices are just for the obstacle and terrain databases, not the nav data.  Bring those into the equation and it gets WAY more expensive.  And the last time i looked at the nav data, even small regions were VERY pricey.  And, I think you had to supply a registered device serial number before you could purchase, but I could be misremembering that part.  Bottom line when I checked into this was, there was no practical way I could see for a simmer to purchase anything reasonable.

Scott

Edit: I take that back.  Looks like the pricing and structure are a bit different on for the GTN products than they were for the 430/530.

Edit #2: But yep, you still have to register and set up your aircraft and serial number to purcahse for the GTNs.

Ryan,

You are still blocked.

Why not PM me and see if you sending one works .. and include your comment on RXP
