May 26, 201412 yr I made a short video of the GTN750 in FSX. Excuse the quality and stuttering I'm new at this video record stuff. If you have any questions or would like to see other flights with the unit let me know. I don't own the 650 yet but plan to purchase soon. May 26, 201412 yr Thanks for taking the time to make this. It looks so much easier to input data with the touchscreen.
May 26, 201412 yr Thanks for taking the time to make this. It looks so much easier to input data with the touchscreen. It definitely is easy to use. Far easier to build flight plans than on the older GNS- 430/530 units, where the pilot would have to turn a knob to scroll through all the possible letters and numbers for each waypoint, one character at a time. With the 650/750 it's more like building a flight plan on a full FMS. The graphics are highly detailed, with full terrain advisory functionality built in, as well as built-in TCAS. The best part is that despite the detailed graphics, the units seem to have almost no impact on frame rates whatsoever.... Much better in that regard than the RXP 430/530. May 26, 201412 yr Moderator Thanks for the video Seth, and thanks also for using the C310R as the display platform. It is a very fun aircraft to fly, that's for certain.I'm highly impressed with the new offering from Flight1 and look forward to hopefully integrating it into the Milviz line of GA aircraft as an option sometime down the road.I did edit your post slightly to allow the video to be visible (and playable) in the forum. How you do that is to use the 'shorter link' YouTube provides and simply paste it in your post without using any forum tags at all... B) Fr. May 26, 201412 yr Great video! Thank You very much for sharing! I'm highly impressed with the new offering from Flight1 and look forward to hopefully integrating it into the Milviz line of GA aircraft as an option sometime down the road. That'd be fantastic! Sounds great really! ... What about the MV Baron for instance ... Having a proper integration in the VC of this nice bird would be quite something IMHO! Enjoy flying and happy landings.
May 26, 201412 yr Looks like it's very useable in the VC. Looking forward to seeing this integrated in a few aircraft. One question - if I saw correctly, you were flying an LPV approach, but I didn't see any glideslope information being passed to the HSI. Is glideslope support not implemented? Thanks again, Scott
May 26, 201412 yr Author Looks like it's very useable in the VC. Looking forward to seeing this integrated in a few aircraft. One question - if I saw correctly, you were flying an LPV approach, but I didn't see any glideslope information being passed to the HSI. Is glideslope support not implemented? Thanks again, Scott Scott you picked up on something I wasn't looking for when making the video. Yes there is a glideslope but for some reason on the Milviz it doesn't show on their HSI for some reason. But if you hit the appr it seems to follow it but just not show on the HSI. I tried a Carenado plane I have and it showed a glideslope indication. Maybe something for Bill to look at or maybe I need to remove it from the panel and try it in another window. Carenado will not show the deviation on their HSI it will only point to the waypoint. But to answer your question, yes, there is glideslope indication but looks as if only if the HSI or AP are compatible. I'm no programmer so I may not have a clue what I'm talking about and it may just be my fault. Sean Green
May 26, 201412 yr When you start up the GTN unit, it does an Instrument Check, just like the GNS units. On that screen, you can check if the HSI shows the requested course, deviation, glideslope, flag hide etc. If that check is good, it will all work in flight as well. Flight1 has indicated that they are working on compatibility improvements, for example, on my Carenado planes, the glideslope works, but the CDI deviation and flag does not.. Bert
May 26, 201412 yr Author Bert I also tried with the Default Caravan and it also did not work. So to do away with me being a dumba## I installed the RXP 530W and tried the same approach and it performed correctly with the same default caravan so I know I can't being doing something incorrect. I think? When you start up the GTN unit, it does an Instrument Check, just like the GNS units. Let me check what it does on my system... Yes it does show all the flags indicated except the VCDI is not half up. It is dead center. The LFLG is in view. The LCDI is in center instead of half left. I think I read in the manual to wait at least a minute before loading an approach but the video I took I didn't load that approach until 10 minutes later. Sean Green
May 26, 201412 yr Flight1 is aware and they have said that they will release a patch that fixes this.. Bert
May 26, 201412 yr Excellent video really helps show some of the features... Here's another I found (lengthy) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eL76fPKiZKI I think once they patch a few of those issues I'll buy it..... it does actually look decent from a 2D perspective... but would look better with 3D bezel and buttons for sure. Does the safe taxi work with addon airports (like their king air?) How do the approach plates work? Do you have to edit them and place in a folder or is it built in and how to update them? | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
May 26, 201412 yr Big question: will they port it to P3D? Gregg Seipp "A good landing is when you can walk away from the airplane. A great landing is when you can reuse it." i9 64GB RAM, GTX-5090
May 26, 201412 yr Big question: will they port it to P3D? Flight1 Aviation Technologies will offer a P3D version, not sure exactly when....
