Rich,

I do not have Estonia.

So, was thinking about the FSGlobal2010 (download or CD?).

Migration tool is a must have works great if you are running P3D You need it - thats for sure more than mesh - 1/2 the stuff I have installed would have not worked without it including some P3D ready installs will not work without it.

Its a notable increase over the default FSX mesh around the world (US excepted which is already 38m) , its small install size (about 3G) and the fact I dont have to worry about airports on plateaus makes it a good compromise IMHO.

Those are 3 very valid points. I've had the chance over the years to compare FSGenesis and FSGlobal (all the way back to FSGlobal 2005). Here and there you will find some differences but for the most part either one does a fine job. When I set up my 4770 the FSGlobal Ultimates were available at a price I couldn't pass up and it was a very convenient install. If money is a concern and you already have FSGenesis I would sit tight. If I were purchasing my first mesh addon at this time and money was a concern I'd get FSGlobal 2010 (or FTX Edition if your an Orbx flyer). Especially given the fact that I think Pilots 2010 FTX Edition is still being worked on per what I've read over at the Orbx Vector forum, or in conjunction with Vector.

Exactly

I would think these would be about the same download size but I think FSGlobal 2010 is like 24GB and " (or FTX Edition if your an Orbx flyer)." FTX is like 4GB?

Finaly got fs genesis working and it is pretty cool all these years of fsx and pr3d and never used mesh.lol

regards ted kiser

I was going to purchase Pilots 2010 on CD FS9/FSX/P3D.

The normal shipping notes mentions 8 weeks for the package to reach the USA destination ..............

Seems like I could row a boat faster .. so to speak.

Anyone know if it actually takes that long?

I wonder if 4GB is the Update for existing owners of the original 2010 DVD edition to bring it up to the FTX edition?

Man. I have no mesh at all, never have and I want one bad, but reading all these different views on the Pilots Global Mesh for FTX I am not sure now. I was so close to pulling the trigger.

What I gather, is that as an owner of FTX Global, and Vector, and the fact that Orbx is promoting it as compatible with their product, people have all these issues?

I have FTX Global, Vector, and Open LC EU and love them all, I want better mesh, but I don't want issues. Makes no sense why Orbx would recommend this addon with all these issues and airports in the air....

William Sequeira

OK one more time...................

Anytime you use mesh to start to adjust the scenery elevations in FSX around the airports you are going to get some airport plateaus or airport trenches. This is true if you use free mesh, FSG mesh, Pilots mesh, or any other mesh I didn't list. The difference is that some mesh comes with additional files that fix these things. The problem is that it is IMPOSSIBLE for these additional files to be included for EVERY single airport in FSX that has this occurrence. So people moan and groan about their favorite airports not looking right. So in that case we point those folks to utilities that THE USER can use to adjust THEIR OWN FSX airports to make them look right in their FSX.

ORBX recommends this addon because ORBX includes  FTX Global Vector Configuration Tool and on the Airport Elevation Correction tab you can choose SOME/ALL of the airports that ORBX has fixed. I am sure that as things mature the list of included airports will expand as well.

You will NOT have any problems in FL or GA because of the general flatness of those areas.

There is no fix for this, as FSX only supports flat airports.

Did I hear sloped runways!  Sure it's possible ...

Cheers, Rob.

Missed the AI traffic there. How many AI planes were taxiing around?

is FS Global Ultimate not compatible with FTX Vector?

Yes it is. That is what I am using.

If you have the FS Global 2010 original DVD's then you buy the FTX Update.  It upgrades it to the latest version, will make it compatible with with FTX Global and Vector, if you use that, and it also includes a P3D V2 installation option.  Using the FTX Upgrade package, you can do a full on install using the original DVD's + Upgrade content, an Update Install which only adds the Upgrade content onto an existing installation, or a Scenery Layers only install, if you already have FS Global 2010 installed and you just want to add the scenery layers into another sim (like P3D, if you already have the scenery layers in FSX)
