I can't see where there's a nickel's worth of difference.

Neither can I, quite frankly.  My gauges are as round as his depiction.  My plane, squeezed?   Okkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk.....(smile).

I'm not seeing this squashing going on, so I downloaded both comparison shots and used my favourite image editor to draw some "perfect" circles around the gauges and honestly I still can't see any squashing. The zoom levels are different, but apart from that, they both look fine.

If you cannot see the difference then you need to get a eye test

For the people who do not have 20/20 vision look at where the dash starts on the left and follow the line to where the centre pillar is on the windscreen. Now look and say one is not squashed!

Thanks for the million dollar tip. I will pass.

But if your happy then good for you for finding some more fps.

I never could see a performance difference whenever I made the two possible views match as far as zoom is concerned. Seems very odd that there actually IS a performance difference (if exact similar views have been created). I will stick with wide view for certain too.

But if this works for someone: enjoy!  ^_^ We all know P3D (as well as FSX) can behave quite different on different computers.

The users too.

There might be something wrong with my eyes, but as far as I know the wideview off with zoom 0.40 looks better than the "fisheye" effect of wideview on with 0.70 zoom... On my system there is no performance difference between the two.

It may be my old memory but I seem to recall that WVA was only applicable to 2D panels not the VC.

So whats the big deal with a few more fps? I thought your previous posts were stating how your sim was ultra smooth with no stutters etc so why have more fps if they're not going to be noticed?

I never get the obsession with chasing the numbers....as NickN always stated its about smooth flight not high fps

I have micro-stutters (truly animation screen updating...) like anybody else. There are instances where this mechanic, is not perceived by my eyes..., and yes...under cloud intense, or general high-scenery rendering, 5-10 FPS is most welcome.  I just report what I find as I use the sim.  Whether others check things out, yeah or nay, is their business.

Yes, this would only be for one monitor being in use.

The best "view" I have found is also using wide view aspect and only zooming out to (.90). If you do not use wide aspect with a wide screen monitor as most everyone has now, then your zoomed in way too much. I think I only loose a few frames a sec, very worth the trade in being able to see more going on.

Yeppers, the best view, is what pleases the user. I personally like a tighter view, and, at least on my system, with less need-to-processs, this translates to a pretty good FPS boost on average. With this, I have cloud-based, multi bands, and very pronounced, with FPS degredation as a rarity. So, again, each to their own. If I find something, a chance stumble-upon happening in my flight simming, it is a quick post to the forum, so others, if they so wish, can check it out on their systems. Yes, there are so many variables....as in what I have set up in my .cfg...or edited in the Shader folder....blah, blah, so I guess, a post of this nature, is only a starting point, head's up, as to what is happening on one user's platform...and pehaps can be duplicated on another's....

Well I tried it and I think it's great, thanks for that.
