September 9, 201411 yr I don't see any topics either here or on P3D forums about AntiAliasing. Is the issue resolved for most folks? I have an nVideo 770 and when I run P3D everything from 1-2 miles looks like a jumbled, shimmering blob. Can hardly make out structures. Not trying to create a firestorm...just want to know what folks are experiencing. Gregg Gregg Seipp "A good landing is when you can walk away from the airplane. September 9, 201411 yr I'm very new to P3D and don't have any such problem with a 780Ti. The only shimmer I've is on the Cherokee GPS screen at normal view point (zoom 1.0). It gets OK when I zoom in. September 9, 201411 yr Author For reference as to what I'm seeing, here's a pic. It looks 'buildingy' but it's also shimmering as well. An HDTV monitor shows all sins. September 9, 201411 yr I read somewhere over at Prepar3d forums that LM is trying to get the Nvidia people to make a dedicated Prepar3d profile/ patch but Nividia is being very slow to respond.

September 9, 201411 yr Maybe you guys find what you're looking for at Rob's website. http://www.robainscough.com/Prepar3D_Settings_2.php Spirit
September 9, 201411 yr Author EDIT: Correction! I must have hit a character when I selected P3D in nVidea Inspector. These settings did help. Still have some shimmering but not nearly as bad and buildings look more 'buildingy'. Maybe I'll get to use this new simulator after all. September 9, 201411 yr The only way I observed to get rid of shimmering is setting 4x Sparse Grid Supersampling in Nvida Inspector - at a certain performance cost (and maybe further side effects). September 9, 201411 yr Shimmering is hard to get rid of and I don't think it's possible to completely get rid of it. Hopefully the Nvidia Inspector profile/ driver settings LM is working on with Nvidia will cure it but we'll all have to wait on that. The good news is that they are working toward together. AA levels seem to be acceptable but I still don't think they are is sharp on my system as they were in FSX so hopefully that will be addressed as well? Greg, what is your LOD setting currently set at? You might try pushing it out a bit if it's not set toward the upper end of the slider. I would turn down the Autogen building density if FPS are a concern. My line of thinking has always been that it's much better to have fewer buildings in focus further out toward the horizon than a bunch of them being rendered/ coming into focus close to my aircraft. September 9, 201411 yr Add 4SGSS in NI as we once did in FSX and the shimmering is gone and looks great, but alas performance is subpar. But we all knew that already. That is why there is not much talk... September 9, 201411 yr 4sgss is the only thing that works for me and even that wont cure some runway/taxi markings. Anyone know if going to a high resolution monitor would help with this? Maybe even a 4k setup?
September 9, 201411 yr Even in FSX, SSGS didn't cure some runway/taxi markings, iirc. September 9, 201411 yr So far , I have not touched even opened the NI. Using a 2560*1440 res. on a 27 in. with MSAA at 4 samples and 2048*2048 textures. I just got my 780ti and I have terrible shimmering. I would be interested in what setting you selected in the driver profile? September 9, 201411 yr Be interesting to see what Nvidia do. P3d does not use a true full screen as FSX does hence the problems in getting the driver set at this time. Further using a true full screen and adding a profile means that the micro stuttering is almost reduced to nothing...but again will be interesting to see the effects with a windowed full screen as used now. There is a discussion on the P3D forum about true full screen seems that this was not the way to go given people like to use several monitors. I have asked LM if they could make a choice of full true screen or windowed so those who only run one monitor can reap the benefit.....we shall see! All the best
September 9, 201411 yr Author After getting some of my software/scenery installed I'll say this...it's significantly better than 2.2. The lighting is better than FSX by miles (though, odd at dusk in Orbx Seattle), the water is very strange...seems to be not moving at all even at Ultra...inner lakes look frozen, ground shadows creep along. I still think the antialiasing could use some help. But, it looks like it's turning into a workable sim. Gregg Seipp "A good landing is when you can walk away from the airplane.
