September 14, 201411 yr Just checked PAJN as a test.. and yes the RNAV LNAV+V approaches are there. Same for CYYJ.. The GTN uses the same navdata as the GNS, so anything that you find there should appear. Thanks for the info Bert. Sure sounds promising. I asked Flight 1 if they can provide more detailed information on coverage.
September 14, 201411 yr How would you expect that to work? You would have to choose which GPS is the active navigation device (which you can do).. but what would the other unit be good for? I think he just means having both installed in FSX, and your respective planes uses which ever one has been installed in that particular aircraft and not having the GTN overwrite any of the RXP files.
September 14, 201411 yr How would you expect that to work? You would have to choose which GPS is the active navigation device (which you can do).. but what would the other unit be good for? The thought being is to have them on different aircraft. I'm quite happy with the rxp530 and like the way it integrates into the panel of the RealAir aircraft for example. That said the GTN product looks like it is a potential next generation replacement for the Rxp and some like the Lionheart Lear aNd some MilViz products are already accommodating it in the panel.....so I think there is room to make use of both in fsx. September 14, 201411 yr Bought it and all is good. Just select which gps (rxp or gtn) you want from the "views" tab at the top of the fsx display. The GTN 750 is pretty impressive. Dave
September 14, 201411 yr Does anyone know if there is a way of using the terrain.odb file from the Reality XP units (via Garmin Trainer), with the GTN750, to get worldwide terrain coverage and not just US ?
September 14, 201411 yr Moderator Does anyone know if there is a way of using the terrain.odb file from the Reality XP units (via Garmin Trainer), with the GTN750, to get worldwide terrain coverage and not just US ? No, the databases are totally different. The only way to get worldwide terrain coverage is to buy the Demo CD from Garmin, then copy/paste the database as described by Flight1 from the CD to the 'Garmin Trainer'. http://www.flight1.com/products.asp?product=f1gtn If you want a terrain map of the rest of the world: US Customers: You must purchase the Garmin GTN Trainer Full Version DVD at https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/prod95993.html. International Customers: Go to the following link and select Aviation in the Dealer Type drop down menu and type in your city or country : http://www.garmin.com/us/dealerlocator?pID=95993&cID=220&sku=010-00478-00&product=010-00478-00 Fr. September 14, 201411 yr This is a newbie question as I just acquired the B55/E55 and am not familiar with the F1 products With Milviz GTN updates ($10 I believe), how easy is the installation of the GTN 750 in the Baron? Mario Bergeron

If you already have the B55 installed, then when you buy the 'GTN upgrade' you get an EXE which you simply run. This installs some GTN-specific models and panels in to the B55's main aircraft folder for the B55. The bit you then have to do manually is to change the 'model' and 'panel' entries for the liveries within your aircraft.cfg that you want to have the GTNs in. Eg..... This:- [fltsim.3] title=Milviz Baron 55_3 sim=b55_7 model= panel= sound= texture=N1757G needs to be changed to this:- [fltsim.3] title=Milviz Baron 55_3 sim=b55_7 model=GTN750 panel=GTN750 sound= texture=N1757G Hope this helps.

Not the only way Bill, maybe the least expensive way. You can use any of the Garmin WorldWide Terrain files to update the Trainer. Many of our flight simmers are also real world pilots and they buy the updates from time to time. Also, if you buy a real world GTN unit, or any Garmin that is update able you usually get a one-time WorldWide update. Regards, Ray When Pigs Fly . Ray Marshall .
September 14, 201411 yr Moderator Okay, maybe not the "only way," but certainly it is the only way for Joe Average Simmer, unless he has a pilot friend he can "borrow" the DVD from long enough to copy the database... Fr. September 15, 201411 yr The good news is there are a couple of ways flight simmers can get nav data updates and the full world edition of the Terrain Maps for the GTN units are avavailable. Non-North American locations need to be a little creative in where and how they purchase the $25 DVD from Garmin. I am already dependent on having a popup avaialable in most everything I fly and it sure is nice to have that large screen GTN750 only a click away. Even the purists that want the worn out edges and yellowed instruments and radios the size of bricks can't win an argument when the GTN in there one minute and gone the next but you have a ton of useful navigational information for your position. I think this is the best of both worlds until we get more custom in-panel installations in the VC. Regards, Ray When Pigs Fly . Ray Marshall .

These GTN seem quite remarkable. Mario Bergeron
