October 5, 201411 yr Moderator For those who are reluctant to run the patch, do understand that you need to at least download the patch now while it is available, so it may be run at some future date... ...as well as all other patches you decide to 'skip.' Otherwise, at some future point you will have no choice except to download the current full installer and run it. Fr. October 5, 201411 yr Not to forget all the compatible add-ons etc. which may not fit anymore for the P3D v2.3 if they were updated. Better stop updating them all from now on!!! This means a frozen P3D v2.3. Keep this in mind. Spirit

October 9, 201411 yr This poll is interesting. It seems that 88% of users are pleased with this patch  . However, if you would read only messages in this forum, it seems that this number is much much lower. I had impression that maybe 20% was happy. Some time ago, I have read interesting psychologic study, which said that 4 times more people are eager to share their bad experience than a good one. It seems that this poll supports this thesis ^_^ . Lukasz Kulasek i7-8700k, RTX 2080 TI, 32 GB RAM, ASUS TUF Z370-PRO Gaming, Oculus Rift CV1
October 9, 201411 yr Since I had to install a new SSD I had to do a full install and installed from a fresh Windows up, but after an evening of trying to straighten things out, I went back to 2.3 Had a smooth 2.3 with the latest Geforce driver, but in 2.4 stutter was back. I had crackling sound which I never had before and also object spikes were back... I stick to 2.3 Cheers! Maarten
October 9, 201411 yr 1 of the area LM still needs to improve in is it`s update procedure. Afull reinstall which needs 20 gigabytes of data transfer at pretty every update is not something that is logical to be required. Updating should be progressed to get as close as possible to the convenience of having the program on for example Steam. It is nice that the necessary *.cfg editting is significantly reduced to a minimum, but when updating all that kind of hassle is somewhat still there. So it is completely understandable right now that someone wants to skip some updates sometimes to wait till about 3 updates later to patch everything up. Anyways i think LM is making good progress and i`m sure they are thinking/working about things like this as well.

October 9, 201411 yr Author Thank you all for the responses. From what I read here it appears 2.4 is not a no-brainer, and w/ the time I have to devote I'm going to stick w/ 'no-brainer' as the criteria to spend the time to uninstall and reinstall everything. 2.3 is actually excellent as is though I still wish LM would restore better lighting to clouds. Perhaps that will happen in 2.5 in which case I consider that a no-brainer for me. Cheers & again thanks!
