October 8, 201411 yr I don't fly these or know anything about the systems of that aircraft. What i see is the HSI on the right showing something which not on the one on the left. Hmmm or maybe i am wrong. Ryzen 5 1600x - 16GB DDR4 - RTX 3050 8GB - MSI Gaming Plus
October 8, 201411 yr When FLCH is engaged the VNAV light should extinguish. Note that the way you can tell which mode you are in is on the PFD which does indicate FLCH. Mark CYYZ
October 8, 201411 yr I didn't notice the VNAV light! Maybe it's a corrupted panel state, or PMDG implemented that detail of failure!

October 8, 201411 yr Or, the shot was taken right after the VNAV button was pressed when in FLCH... October 8, 201411 yr Forgive me if this is the rant of an idiot (and someone who doesn't use complex procedural systems), but......you are heading 160 degrees, and (presumably) turning to 190 degrees. If that is the case, why does the HDG bar show 011 degrees? October 8, 201411 yr Author You got it, guys. Just for fun i tried to switch over to VNAV after FLCH to see whats happening. But not chance to unlock by switching back to VNAV. Even disconnect A/P and activating it again had changed that situation. LOC and G/S did it finally. base of operation: heading select (end of star)/FLCH below 10.000ft following downwind, direct/to FAF, LNAV VNAV with the result in FLCH lock LOC G/S (FLCH unlock)
October 8, 201411 yr Even disconnect A/P and activating it again had changed that situation. You need to reset both F/Ds as well. VNAV light is on because you have VNAV armed, as indicated on your PFD. You're currently below the VNAV path and it's waiting to capture. I don't see any indications that only one light can be on... only that one mode can be active. Somewhere in the FCOM it'll say: "4: VNAV Light Illuminated (green) - the VNAV mode is armed or engaged." I can't provide the page number because this comes from smartcockpit... kinda like an abridged FCOM  All looks normal to me.
October 8, 201411 yr Commercial Member All looks normal to me. Yep... But not chance to unlock by switching back to VNAV. Always. Always. Always pay attention to your FMA. Your FMA shows: FL/CH (VNAV armed - that's what the white VNAV means). This is the same exact concept as in the case where you're on LNAV and have pressed LOC. LNAV and LOC both remain lit until the LOC is captured and the LOC mode takes over. In this case, LNAV is shown in green with LOC in white below it. Ralph Freshour doesn't have his videos on the topic out yet, but he's working on a series of MCP tutorial videos that would probably be immensely helpful to you. All of the ones I've seen are in the 737, but the modes are primarily the same and have similar behavior. Once he's done, they'll be up at this address: https://www.youtube.com/user/rfresh1011 Kyle Rodgers
