October 22, 201411 yr Commercial Member Here's a video I made! Nice little video there! Confirmed you are correct - well sometimes I see wheel spray - wingtip vortices need to be more pronounced Wingtip vortices will be enhanced in the P3D version to take full advantage of your video card's performance As for contrails - how long they are and - what is more important to me - are they work with AI planes and on VATSIM? The FSX version lasts for about 10 seconds and yes, they work on AI. We were not satisfied with the performance of longer contrails in FSX. The Prepar3D version will probably be longer since we have more headroom before it starts to affect performance. How long - I think it depends on the weather and temperature - have to ask developer - no ai installed yet so I dont know - dont expect the world as it is not intended for P3D yet and has been stated as such - if you want a nice snow and rain this is for you engine smoke at altitude works including wing vorticies - taking off from runway they work just not as pronounced as they should be Since PrecipitFX replaces FSX (or P3D)'s default effects, length and conditions for contrails are the same as default. Contrails are showing when the ambiant temperature is lower than -30*C regardless of anything else. This will not change in the P3D version since the purpose of the package is the same. Our aircraft-specific packages like 777 Immersion on the other hand will give custom contrails with 2 intensities also controlled by ambiant temperature since weather engines do not simulate air saturation at high altitudes. So how do we get them default ones back until they work in P3D? Do we need to un-install and then just re-install and check only the precipitation effects or just move the default back up effects back in place? Simply run the installer again, you can uninstall the package form there. If you uninstall it from Windows' Control Panel, it will only remove the utility and not the package itself. October 22, 201411 yr Nice little video there! Good info - appreciate the heads up - I knew Wingtip vortices would be enhanced when you guys work things out in the end - excellent package and looking forward to the end result Rich Sennett
October 22, 201411 yr Author Great video - just luv the raindrops on the windshield - you almost killed your self a few times lol - thanks for sharing Dave this should help others on the fence - to me its day and night and very happy with it Kill myself nah!!!! It was just part of the show lol The wind did get me on takeoff though. ATP MEL,CFI,CFII,MEI. Type Ratings B-737, ERJ-190,ERJ-170
October 22, 201411 yr Looks nice indeed. A LOT better than that awful default rain! However, all extra's are wasted on me because I never ever leave the VC so contrails, smoke from tyres and what not I will never see... The add-on isn't really expensive but to pay only for rain that I only see every now and then... Can you turn those extra things off (everything apart from rain and snow) or are they only generated when you actually use a view that shows them? I don't need all kinds of effects going on in the background without me seeing them. I suppose this add-on does not take care of the SUDDEN start and ending of rain...? I always hate that... But maybe that will be less obvious anyway because the rain is less obvious. There is no way to NOT see that default ugly cone of white stripes! BTW For those who don't know this: the raindrops on the windows in the video are courtesy of the Duke, not this add-on. So don't expect all your planes to suddenly have raindrops on the windows!

I'd like to see these new "PrecipitFX" rain with aircraft that don't have VC Rain effects. MSFS
October 22, 201411 yr Here's a video I made! I've been trying to install the damn thing using EMT. But the rain effect is no where near that. It still looks like my a319 is in hyper drive. When I install it I start the virtual drive. Then I start the installer and finally I get the prompt saying it was installed but it does not have the effects like you guys do. Start PrecipitFX Installer Step 3. Install effects/modify rescan for new planes. You may have to uninstall then re install the effects but make sure you do both with the EMT running and virtual FSX enabled ATP MEL,CFI,CFII,MEI. Type Ratings B-737, ERJ-190,ERJ-170
October 22, 201411 yr I tried making a dummy effects folder in FSX and then I pasted those files into the effects folder of Prepared. Now I have no rain at all. I am wondering If i am having all these issues because I might have not installed the update correctly. I am going to do a clean prepared install to see if maybe I did something wrong, Follow me on : Instagram See my Trailer: A Year Of Flight
October 22, 201411 yr This is what I am getting. I even updated my Migrator from estonia today and I still am not getting these files to install. Does anyone know what files it installs so i can just copy and paste them from FSX to P3D That looks like p3d factory thats not right - far from it - looks like they did not install to p3d they went into fsx - I am not at home but what it does is load a new texture folder in your P3D main effects folder - also some effects files which resemble the products name - I am not home so I can't remember them You have done something wrong - why dont you wait for screenshots of the folder structure as you can reinstall p3d again and mess it up again - I can provide screenshots in about 4 hours - your call - also seems EMT is confused between fsx and P3D not sure where to load things - dump fsx lol Rich Sennett
October 22, 201411 yr Got it working. Anyone that has issues with the Estonia tool here is how you do it. Rename you effects folder in FSX to Effects.Bak Rename texture folder to texture.bak Install PrecipitFX Copy the contents of both folders into the respective folders in the Prepared. Start Prepared and enjoy! Thanks guys for your help finding this info., Follow me on : Instagram See my Trailer: A Year Of Flight
October 22, 201411 yr There's something wrong with your EMT if you have to do any file manipualtion in your FSX install...
