FTX Global is better because it covers the entire world. It's a better value than GSX.

FTX Global, where I like to fly looks better than GSX.

FTX Global is better because it comes with 3D night lighting.

FTXG also comes with over 100 free upgraded AFCADs.

FTX Vector is a better value. It covers the entire world and it's in constant development.

Fimally, I want to support a dev that is also looking to the future by creating FSX and P3D v2 addons.

Once again, basically all opinion.  PERIOD.

Better value because it covers the entire world - you're opinion.  If I don't fly the entire world, why would it matter to me?  If I only fly in the U.S., then this fact is irrelevant.  So, it's your opinion...you define it of value because it covers the whole world but someone else may not.

FTX where you like to fly looks better than GEX - complete and total opinion.  Again, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.  It may look good to you but not to someone else.

FTX Global is better because it comes w/ 3D lighting - opinion.  And, doesn't UTX now come w/ 3D lighting too?  Can't remember.  But, either way, still your opinion.

100 free upgraded AFCADS. Even though that may be a fact, this doesn't make it better.  What if I don't fly to those airports?  No value to me then.

And, just because it is still in development doesn't mean much either.  To you, that makes it better.  Someone else may not care.  Just because it's still in development doesn't mean it will keep getting better.  Most likely it will.  But, what if the developers at FTX decide to paint the world orange?  Would it still be better?

Sorry.  I'm not trying to cause a war or pick a fight here.  I don't mean any offense.  Just trying to keep it real and tell it like it is.  There just can't be a definitive one is better than the other here because it will always be opinion.

I get it. It's your opinion that it's just my opinion.

I can't believe this has gone on as long as it has.

Of course, Kevin is correct!  We all have our opinions of what is best.  And they are just that -- our opinions.

And, yes Jose, it IS just your opinion.  And, yes Jose, you ARE entitled to your opinon and we apprecitate your input.

But, yes, you ARE stating your opinion as fact.  If you simply added, "In my opinion. . ." to each of your "facts", as Jim did is his earlier post, then we could all move on.

Jeez!

Just looking for answer in ORBX forum for this:I am spending a lot of time on various forums trying to decide if I want to go from GEX to FSX Global.I have your NA products and enjoy them.I use all UTX scenery except for Carib and Mex which I am thinking of getting. My understanding is FTX Global overwrites GEX stuff in the scenery\texture file.So if I backup that folder, uninstall GEX,install FTX Global and want to go back to GEX  for specific areas I would have GeX in those areas, because it would overwrite Global(?) and FTX Global the rest of the world?I hope am explaining properly. Thanks,Ron

MSE is Mega Scenery Earth... With MSE you lose autogen and nightlighting but for day time flying, nothing beats it in terms of reality. And of course, that is MY OPINION.

I mostly do day time flying and do not like the autogen popping up.Is that what you are referring to?This is starting to get really interesting. Thanks,Ron

Mega Scenery Earth is photo real scenery.  One of the biggest drawbacks to photo real is the lack of 3D autogen objects.  So, when you are at low altitudes/sitting on the ground, the terrain is very empty - sort of like being on the moon.  You would not have autogen popping up at all.  You wouldn't see any of it.  Some can't stand this and some can - again, personal preference.

As was mentioned before, how your sim looks, depends largely on landclass. FTX being of better value is dependent on your needs. If you only fly in the UK or the US, you just paid for much more than you actually need. I can definately tell you that regardless of using GEX or FTX, the Caribbean looks nothing like it should and to this day, the only scenery that captures the way the Caribbean should look is Flytampa's Grenadines package.

Also, Vectors or UTX are not the only recommended Landclass products that can create a more realistic presentation of your given ground texture product. There are others such as Scenerytech that can be used along with UTX and when done so correctly, can give futher enhancement to how textures and autogen are presented.

Since you already have GEX, the question to ask yourself is; do you like it?.  If so, then, in my opinion, you stick with GEX and skip trying to figure out how to have part GEX and part-FTXG, if that's even possible without creating other issues.

I used GEX NA and satisfied, but felt that FTXG was a better value than buying the remainder of the other GEX regions.

FTXG had some pluses such as covering the world for lower cost than the various GEX regions; blended well with the FTX regions that I already owned;  was being actively developed and promised more accurate Landclasses through the upcoming Orbx OpenLC product.

FTXG now has an uninstaller, but I never considered the early "there is no uninstaller" rants to be relevent to my decision.  I knew once I iinstalled FTXG, that I wasn't going to expend energies second guessing my decision.

For me, there isn't one second that I've regreted my decision to go with FTXG.

Orbx has been nothing but steller in their support of FTXG and issue related fixes.  They have also released 100+ freeware enhanced airports to replace default FSX airports in FTXG.

Ernie

Thank you very much for your honest and informational response.I had forgotten about the airports and their other freeware stuff. It's not that I have a lot invested in GEX relatively speaking .Your comment on not second guessing your decision is an excellent way to look at it.I think you just swayed me.Ron

So,if I have FTX Global and FTX NA,I could just leave FTX Central set to NA?

No, set to Global with Hybrid ticked.

Repeat something enough times, that usually makes it sink in. IMO
