HD Mesh Scenery v3 for X-Plane 10 released

Featured Replies

Vancouver looks different i feel and yummy. Took a good hit 12 fps :) that's because I am on the laptop and using XPX on an external display 16:9. I will check it on the desktop tomorrow.

Once I get Calgary I will go to Toronto , especially Thunder Bay and then go for the Alaska region.

I wish there was GIS data for my country India and South Africa wow.

Yes the torrents are slow because of not many seeders atm.

BTW something is not right in Liverpool.

You need to be MUCH more specific if you expect to get a qualified answer ... to my unaided eye (and someone who has never been to Liverpool), it looks OK ...

Liverpool looks great, and is an improvement over HD Mesh v2. I should know, I was the one who tidied up rivers and coastlines there ;-)

He did say 'BTW', so it may have just been a general comment on Liverpool and not related to the new mesh...

The flightsim.com torrents were working well yesterday, but seem completely dead today. Can't get a sniff, no peers around.  :(

AGAIN: please remember guys, that at the moment hundreds of users are doing the same, and the servers are all under high pressure! Under these conditions its "normal" that they can't provide perfect service to everyone at the same time! The flightsim.com admin already told me, that they are at very high, peak bandwidth usage ... and that they torrent tracker occasionally crashes 8and he needs to restart it) ... but he also wanted too look into how he can improve this situation.

And in the end: remember, this is all free ... so, do not expect 100% availability at top speeds for all the time. Thats not possible B) ... So, be patient and all of you will get it at some point.

And also: yes, the tracker goes sometimes down because of the enormous number of request ... flightsim.com is working on this!

I actually experienced an increase in FRs and beautiful scenery as I flew my loop out of KROA and approached the area of Smith Mountain Lake near MONAT, but In V3 30-80, at the approach to RW 33 at KROA, there is a big pile of roads, literally "humping" up into the air at odd angles.  Also, the interstate highway at that point (as it has in all other releases and in XPX itself) continues to go underground as if there was a tunnel there (there isn't).  I expected the latter not to be fixed as I know, when considering the world as a whole, this is minor, but wonder if the "pile of roads" is a problem similar to the spike seen in V2 in Louisiana.  Not complaining, I just re-installed V2 for 30-80, which was and is awesome. Thanks for all your efforts Andras.

Notice the change in Vancouver. To my knowledge in V2 there was no hill between CYPK - CYVR and in V3 it's there. Still exploring it.

The torrent tracker is off-line and isdg.com.au has removed the torrent files!  I guess I will leave things cool down a bit ;)

Hi John,

Maybe a screenshot could help to better see the issues ... And i can tell you, that usually this kind of effect (roads going "wrong") is usually not a direct effect of the scenery, as there - since XP10 - roads are only mapped in 2D and X-plane itself does drape them "on-the-fly" onto the terrain ... and when ever this draping engine goes wrong, strange things happen (it was much worse in the first versions of XP10 and have since matured a lot).

And just in case ... could you please test if there is - possibly - another scenery messing with your landscape there (I do not say this is the case ... I just think, it could be)? And what settings do you use (especially "runway follows terrain" - which can mess up the landscape sometimes)?

And I have just quickly tested KROA but can not see ANY spiking roads anywhere near that airport (all looks smooth and nice) .... so we really need to investigate whats going wrong on your side.

Hmmm ... I can't exactly see/ reproduce what you are talking here. Neither does your screenshot help me in exactly identifing the possible location ...

Aah ... you mean that big, gentle hill just NW where the two big rivers meet (forgive me, I don't look up their names)? Looks to me very natural ... And if its there, then its there because the geo data (elevation data) told the scenery generator to put it there. Definitely nothing I would worry about.
