nVidia 347.25 WHQL driver available now

Featured Replies

Anybody know a driver version for a Nvidia 970 that will work to show the runway lights etc. ?

Rob's 337.88 are not supported for my video card.

I own a 970 and have rolled back to a driver which displays lights.

I'm not at home at the moment, so cannot confirm the driver number but I seem to recall it is 344.75.

Give it a try

Edit : just checked on the nvidia website, and it should be this driver. The last in the 344.XX branch.

I'm sticking with daytime flight as the new driver seems to be delivering the best performance for the 980 cards.  I believe you have to go back to the original 900 series driver, 344.11 or 344.16, to get the lights back.

Thanks for the replies.  I've got the 344.11 on my external drive and may try it tomorrow.

Things are looking better with the older driver. BTW, how do you set your FPS limit? I've always limited it to 30 as I'd done in FSX, but I seem to be getting much better results running unlimited in P3Dv2.

I run Unlimited with Vsync and triple buffer ... but my 4K monitor is 30Hz via HDMI v1.4 port so I only need to target 30 fps.

Cheers, Rob.

I went out and got an GTX 970 last night and put my R290x on CL. I like the new drivers. I enabled the MFAA and set P3D to 2x MSAA. I get much better anti-aliasing without the FPS hit. I did setup the FPS limited to 45 fps. Almost everything to Ultra and was averaging 20 fps in the city and 35-40 in less populated area. That's with Lots of Orbx scenery and an Airbus 320 from Aerosoft. I think  I would take the compromise of flying in daylight for now.

Anybody else with a gtx9xx card tried MFAA?

Any sign of shimmering with that setup?

I am running MFAA and DSR 1.5x while dialing down from 4x MSAA to 2x MSAA. I don't seem to encountered any FPS hit. I am running at ~30fps and very smooth using Aerosoft Airbus 320.

"Now I can certainly understand that it might take awhile to get an SLI profile."

Is this "SLI" causing the no PAPI problem with P3D?

Hi Vaughn,

No. I only run a single card. Am only relaying my experience.

*points at Nvidia*  Give me back my airport lights!    I am tired of not being able to fly into airports at night because I can't see the bloody thing!  *POINT*   What ever you took out or tweaked 4 driver patches ago put it back!  *angry bitter beer fest*   Lights... my kingdom for lights!

LOL. It sounds like a violation of the imaginary FARs. WE should report nVidia to the imaginary FAA.

I think it's the opposite way. NVIDIA is much closer to the hardware, and therefore they create the drivers. If they would have to take care about each software outthere to show all things correctly, they'd never come to an end.

In my oppinion it's clearly up to LM to fix it.

As it is clearly Nvidia who removed/suppressed/rewrote the code from their 337.88 drivers necessary for LM lights to work I disagree that it is "Clearly Up to LM to Fix It."   If it ain't broke then don't fix it but since you broke it, fix it.  LM and Nvidia need to have a little pow wow and figure it out.    I just rolled back my drivers 9 months so I could get lighting back at night.  Best decision I've made this week.  Got my lights back and better performance.

It is the customer, who wants more and more powerful drivers. Therefore NVIDIA (and also AMD) tweak their drivers. I think it's impossible to avoid, that some functions do not work anymore in certain softwares.

I agree, that LM couldn't do much about it in 2.4, but in 2.5 it has to be fixed. No doubt in my honest opinion. We should not forget, that not everyone has a dedicated PC just for P3D. Most of the users also have other titles, which clearly benefit from the latest drivers.
