updating navigation data in fsx

How do I update the navigation data in fsx with the current airac cycle 1501?I wanted to use this data with the GPS that comes with fsx.Can you use navigraph to do this

You cannot update the FSX nav database (or GPS) with Airac cycles. I don't think any payware GPS allows for that; AIrac cycles update flight management computer databases only. The link provided is the only system-wide update I know of (I've ot tried it myself; heard about some potential conflicts (duplication?) with the original FSX dataset.  The Flight One GTN series GPS has a more recent database, but still a few years old I believe

I think the simple answer is: No, you cannot update the FSX navdata.

Best strategy is to use an add-on GPS, like the Flight1 GTN750 and with that, comes a much newer database.

Or, use an airplane that comes with an updatable database, like the Flight1 Mustang or C182T.

I think the answer is a qualified yes, but there isn't anything out there to actually do it. The qualification is that the ATC FIR boundaries and comms (bvcf.bgl) are not really documented on how to fix or update so you are on your own there.   Next are the air space boundaries (BNX) , which are documented but no one has created a tool to help update (and getting source data is probably an issue).   Aside from that it's doable but not automated, due to the data being scattered between enroute navaid (NVX), enroute ATS routes and waypoints (ATX) and airport runway/approach/terminal waypoint/navaids (APX) files.

I could see a crowd-sourced project based on the established lat/long quads to update the data, but man what a job that would be.  I once was playing around with the FIRs in China and just that seemed way too big without creating some sort of automation.

Did you check out Driver170's link to World Navaids?

Ric, any "solution" that only 'fixes' ~85% of the complete database creates as many issues as it supposedly solves.

I would just use the site that Vernon (driver170) posted.  It's the best you're going to get without getting an FMC such as the PMDG.

Well aware of it, and I have used his tools (EasyNavs in particular) for probably 10 years or so.
