To be honest, while I'm impatient for it, I don't really care how long it takes - I have plenty to keep me busy.  I want it to be excellent is all.  Then it'll be worth my money.

I would also support getting the Turbine Duke V2, and equipping it with a Flight1 GTN750.

That will give you lots to play with, for a long time (in a good way..)

is GEX Europe stand alone or do I need something else with it?

You could use it on its own I guess to improve the ground textures etc but I think the effect would be much better if you combined it with Ultimate Terrain Europe.

I like to city hop too. That's why I fly real freighter routes with the PMDG 777F. Aerologic have a few that are great. Their home is EDDP and all these airports have high quality addons.

EDDP-EGNX BOX110

EDDF-EGNX BOX109

EGNX-EDDP BOX111

EDDP-EBBR BOX116

EBBR-EDDP BOX117

EDDP-LIMC BOX512

EDDP-EDDF BOX910

EDDF-EDDP BOX911

Their longer haul routes also have great addon scenery like VTBS, WSSS, VHHH, OMDB, etc.

The PMDG has 99.9999% system modeling and it is a rewarding feeling to learn how to operate it, once you get good you can go from cold and dark to ready to taxi in the time it takes to align the ins, 10 minutes.

Combine this with Orbx Vector, Global, a mesh product, and OpenLC Europe, perfect!

Hi i would just like to input my 2 cents here and goodluck whatever you choose.

i personally would not buy any carenado's stuff as the flight systems and gps are always watered down and i always feel they just dont go that extra bit like all the other ones pmdg etc.

i have tried most of carenado's stuff and i always feel its lacking in so many ways and just isnt what i expect for payware and some freeware i would say is just as good as there stuff.

on the other hand i would use orbx for scotland scenery and i love vfr gen x vol 1-3 for there england wales scenery its fantastic and i find it much better looking and much nicer on fps compared to orbx and it is great for vfr flying.

i would like others have said get the realair or a2a stuff its really is hard to beat and would get there turbine or piston duke its fantastic.

Another addon that is currently my favourite is the razbam metro 3 i have to say its took the better part of 3 months to get into and to be honest i wasnt a fan to start but i absolutley love it but it has a few niggles that can be sorted out by a few guys over at the forums but it is lovley to hand fly and i like the oldschool feel of it my 2nd best plane and my old favourite was the realair turbine and piston duke brilliant little rockets

Also if your into GA flying i would have a look at fseconomy its so addictive and its free and the community over there are brillaint aswell i would say fseconomy is a must have as it gives your short hops a purpose it just adds a  new layer to my fsx and love flying on it.

Now I have managed to learn my Phenom Better I am having a blast flying it.  I installed GEX Europe and have been continuing my European hop tour (was going to be a world tour but has I only have GEX Europe I will just limit it to Europe for now)

I nearly bought the Turbine Duke, but although in the FSX world its an upgrade to my Phenom in the real world its feels more like going from my Modern Sports Car to a more of a classic.  The Duke will happen but I though I would try a commercial plane first.

I really like the idea of the BAE avros, its a nice size, a Jet (which I can fly better than a turbine) and the QW version looked really good.  However, it seems QW isn't steam compatible (only thing I can find was a rather rude-ish post by QW that they have no interest in Steam)

Might have to go for the Dash 8  instead as I can't find any other small commercial plane I like the look of.

Currently at LIPZ of my European tour having fun :)

I chose Carenado's PC-12, which is a pleasure to fly, if you add the mods offered in this forum. This aircraft is one of the most successful single-engine turboprops worldwide due to it's almost incredible short-field and unpaved runway operation ability. If you love flying to/from small airports, it will definitely offer you a great flying experience.

Marcus,

I can't comment on European scenery, but I personally use the PlayHorizon VFR GenX photographic scenery for England, Wales, Scotland, and the Republic of Ireland, and then ORBx for Northern Ireland (simply because there is no decent photoscenery of Northern Ireland available; I don't count the MSE version as it apparently has very poor water masking). I originally used the ORBx version of the Republic of Ireland, but the performance hit with a decent airport like Aerosoft Dublin was hard. Landclass scenery (even decent stuff like ORBx) only looks remotely good with autogen at maximum density (at least as far as I am concerned), but I can actually enjoy the Republic of Ireland photoscenery without any autogen whatsoever. It also makes a MASSIVE difference to the performance when flying to and from Aerosoft Dublin. Anyway, coastlines with landclass scenery (yes, even ORBx) are rubbish, but the coastlines and water masking of the VFR GenX Ireland photoscenery are stunning! There is no comparison between the VFR GenX photoscenery and ORBx scenery where the approach to runway 28 is concerned. The photoscenery view is beautiful.

Agree. As another person said earlier, Carenado always has light systems. But with the mods the Carenado PC-12 turns into a very realistic and simulated airplane. Add Reality XP GPS and it is approaching A2A quality. Sure not 100% system modeling but very good with the mods available.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the Milviz Baron or Cessna 310. I have the Cessna. Great feel, highly customizable VC with the free radio version, and I haven't looked into it, but an expansion pack that supports Mindstar and GTN, I suppose in 3d. Good little plane, and maybe the best to simulate single engine in a light twin.

Still laughing that somebody put a plug in for the 777f as a city hopper :)

Been having a bit of a mare with my GEX scenery as it was fine one day and then would not seem to load the textures the next.  Spens ages defragging and running Malwarebites and CC Leaner, then uninstalled and reinstalled and its seemed fine.

Looking at overlocking my AMD 6670 Graphics at the moment too to see if that helps with the loading of the scenery.

Decided to have 1 x private plane and 1 x Regional Airliner, though I was having a few issues again with my Phenom and ILS so might get the Duke tonight along with something regional.

Have started a new thread for the Regional Aircraft as I think I was drifting on too many tangents on this one lol
