XPX is a simulator of clarity, depth of field, just simply an amazing platform:

Featured Replies

Here I am in the Eclipse v2.0, heading south down the coast of California, from San Fran, to San Diego, with the beautiful mountain terrain provided by Andras Fabian's, HD mesh v3.0, and his UHD mesh v1.0 where it is scheduled to display itself.

Folks...XPX, in my opinion, has the most realistic HDR display features ever to be within a simulator.  Just look at how gorgeous the shadows, and spectral light displays upon the Eclipse, as well as the terrain below.  It is seriously becoming my first flight platform of the day!  With the free-ware from such generous and gifted patron/artists,  (at payware quality) flowing in daily to the platform...and with absolutely no needed tweaking of stated platform, to see 30 FPS pretty much anywhere, in any rendering situation,...it is a supreme pleasure to own a copy, to run a copy...to enjoy a copy...

Happy flights, all!

(seriously, the plane in shot #3 looks like a RL photo!)

I have never seen HDR sun-shine glimmer from the asphalt ever before in a flight simulator.  XPX ROCKS!  HDR's XPX ROCKS!   I'm sold...hook, line, and sinker! :)

Post Edit:  I just saw a three-trailer luggage tranny/train run by me...the animation is fantastic, all around the airport.  ORBX...you should be scared...REALLY...scared, lol!

Great shots.

Doesn't your sim of choice change like every 3 weeks? :P

Nice shots. The plane in #3 doesn't look very photorealistic to me, but the object display radius looks quite good. I'll probably never switch to X-Plane, though it's always interesting seeing what others are doing with it.

By the way, depth of field is a term used for the focus distance in a scene. Objects closer/further than that focus distance appear blurry/unfocused. It's nothing to do with general sharpness, render distance, etc.

Nice.

I respectively disagree. 'Depth of field' is most notably a photographic terminology, that dictates the plane of focus from the Macro, to the infinite.  It all depends on the lens, or the eye...and how far out from the zero plane, one (the lens, or the lens in your eye, can render in focus).  In Xplane, one can see texture upon the mountains that are depicted out 40 miles into the distance.  My reference was correct. In FS9, you have a very limited near to far defined, and depicted field. In FSX/P3D, the depth perception is not as clear of field, as XP.  Hence the blurries. Of course, this is totally point-of-view, by the reader, or user.  It is my opinion that there is depth of field, to infinity in XP.

As to I change every three weeks, LOL....not an observation that I would critique to myself.  But hey...each to their observance of the what-ever...lol.....

Cheers,

Great shots.

Thanks, I'm home from work..and I can't wait to get back there....to L.A.....!

Never seen anyone describe Xplane as having great depth of field before.

Seen plenty of folk complaining about the limited depth of field as the fog rolls in to mitigate the fps falling.

Mitch, every week brings another platform you are Sold!!! on (love the enthusiasm)

I am beginning to thing you and Jcomm are one and the same.

Has anyone seen these two guys in a room at the same time ?

One sim to rule them all, one sim to bind them (users) in a "tweak" knots  , and one sim to drive them mad!

We simmers, are a crazy bunch.

No room yet built, could handle the synergistic energy....

Beautiful shots!

Thanks...guys! :)

Though I also love to see enthusiastic users, your posts always seem like viewing the sim through rose-colored glasses ;).

I've never been able to really get into XPX... Stuff like less time spent tweaking FPS is offset by more time spent populating the world and airports. I've yet to find a proper 100% in depth add on, and the planes just look plastic fantastic to me. Interacting with the VC is often odd and cumbersome as well.

Anyway, I just wanted to say, different strokes for different folks I guess, no sim is perfect :).

fog fixed a long long time ago and my fps are amazing on my 970's and 980.

No truth to the rumors. None at all.

I too tend to bounce from Sim to Sim,  Now im flying IL2 and DCS, love the older stuff.  Tomorrow it might be something else. Truth be know if there was only one Sim i could put all my energy and passion into that and not bounce from one to another but i guess that's just my personality, I'm always excited about something different every day.

Doesn't really matter what im flying i always enjoy looking and browsing other peoples Siming experience, weather its pics or in-depth, nerdy over the top passionate opinions,  i love it,  its all good.   Fortunately for everyone on Avsim i don't know how to post pics :)

Nice pics,  thanks for posting

It's really quite easy. If you'd like, I could PM you a super quick guide on how to do it! :)
