August 25, 201510 yr Commercial Member HI All, have you ever wanted to use your tablet / phone as a remote CDU? This free-to-view server will allow you to use your favorite mobile device (Android tablet / phone, iPhone / iPad, Windows tablet / phone) to interact with the CDU in PMDG's 737 NGX. All you need to do is run the server, scan the generated QR code with your device and you are ready to go! And for only 10 EUR, you can purchase a full-control license which will allow you to control the CDU, all the way from pre-flight to landing. You'll no longer need to use your mouse / keyboard to click your way through the CDU being heads-down. Instead you can use a physical device, just like in real life, adding a new dimension of realism. This solution doesn't have any limitation as to windowed or full-screen mode and has a minimal impact on system performance (less than 1% CPU usage). It will also support multiple devices at the same time, so you can use your tablet in your home cockpit while using your phone to monitor your flight. No additional license is required, regardless of how many clients are connected. This version supports both Microsoft's Flight Simulator X as well as Lockheed Martin's Prepar3D v2! Go ahead and try it out! You can download the free version and evaluate it without any risks right here: http://www.avsim.com/topic/475478-remote-cdu-current-version/ Best Regards Mark Foti Mark Foti Author of aviaworx - https://www.aviaworx.com
August 25, 201510 yr Hello Mark, sounds intersting, however I can't get it to work. First, the QR code generated and shown on my PC is not complete. I mean that your windows doesn't show the complete picture of the code. Therefore my mobile was not able to identify that as QR code. I have copied the generated http adress to a QR generator and then it was possible to read and connect. Ok, once connected I can see my FMC1 on my mobile ... and then??? What is the point of the application then? I can't make any input via my mobile and I have to refresh the browser always to get the actual FMC screen. Is that intended or is that a bug? many greetings, Günter Guenter Steiner -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Betatester for: A2A, LORBY, FSR-Pillow Tester --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
August 25, 201510 yr Author Commercial Member Hi Günter, can you please contact me at foti.mark<at>gmail.com to help you out getting the remote CDU up and running.Note - the free license doesn't allow input - you'll need the full version (5€ 10€) for that. I recommend we fix all your issues before you purchase a full license to make sure you get the most out of it.RegardsMark Mark Foti Author of aviaworx - https://www.aviaworx.com
August 26, 201510 yr I'm interested in the product but how is payment transmitted? Is there a way to pay through paypal? Mike Keigley
August 26, 201510 yr Author Commercial Member Yes, paypal is possible. The workflow: 1) Send me your license request file via email 2) I will send you a paypal link asking for payment 3) Once payment is confirmed, I will send the license file I recommend testing the free version first, and once the connection is working correctly, request the full version. August 26, 201510 yr Mark - this is really neat! However, I'll probably hold off on buying the full version since it looks like my iPhone 5 is just a tad too small and I don't really have anything else I could use... Greg Montey "Because with great power, comes great responsitriligence..."

So, everything seems to work. But a demo of that tool would be helpful before someone thinks about a purchase Guenter Steiner -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Betatester for: A2A, LORBY, FSR-Pillow Tester --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
August 26, 201510 yr Author Commercial Member @Greg: I agree, an iPhone probably has too little real estate to be really useful for data input. However, you can use the free version to monitor your flights on your iPhone (keep the CDU on the PROG page and you'll have a good overview). In my experience, anything from a 7 inch tablet / phablet is ideal. @Günter: I think most users will have a pretty good understanding what the App feels like from the free version. I think most users know what to expect when they Invest into the full version. PS the documentation mentions the differences between the full and free version  @Jerome: yes, I guess it is very similar, just at a much lower price point. Plus you have the advantage that you can mix iOS / Android / Windows with a single full-control license. Mark Mark Foti Author of aviaworx - https://www.aviaworx.com
August 27, 201510 yr guys, just installed, paid and got it running smoothly works great on windows 10 tablet!!! been waiting for this since no one else had a windows tablet enabled virtual cdu!!! August 27, 201510 yr Author Commercial Member Thanks Oscar for your feedback. Regarding the refresh issue: this seems to be related to Windows. It works well with Android and iOS. Let's troubleshoot this together. Mark Foti Author of aviaworx - https://www.aviaworx.com
August 27, 201510 yr Author Commercial Member Just to let everyone know: it seems windows mobile 8 doesn't refresh the screen automatically, at least not in this scenario - it could be an OS setting to minimize data. On the windows 10 tablet the problem did not show itself. Mark Foti Author of aviaworx - https://www.aviaworx.com
August 27, 201510 yr Hello, could you tell me if there are future plans for other addons? PMDG 777, Majestic Dash, Aerosoft Airbus etc...? August 27, 201510 yr Author Commercial Member Günter, let's see how popular this will be. If there is a lot of demand, then yes, I can adopt it for the 777 provided PMDG extend their SDK. Mark Foti Author of aviaworx - https://www.aviaworx.com
