September 30, 201510 yr Commercial Member Oh, well isn't that a shame. So because you and your Buddy think I am a V3 hater, whatever that is, it is OK for the two of you to accuse not only me but the OP of both lying about what he posted and when, and what I read? That is beyond weird. Should be easy to see who is lying, all they have to do is go and look at the edits. Forums always keep a record of that. I'm game, how about you? He's not my buddy, don't even know him... LOL My two posts at the beginning of the thread: First I asked for clarification because saying it crashed isn't the same as an OOM. Then after I posted I saw his original post had changed... so I asked which OOM message he was seeing. I know what I saw. Now there are several people in this thread questioning his claim in entirety. Ed Wilson Mindstar AviationMy Playland - I69
September 30, 201510 yr Bob, get v3, do the test yourself then tell us what you find. Maybe in a couple of months when the smoke clears. Right now V2.5 works great, good FPS, no stutters, no OOMs, and fixing it isn't necessary.

September 30, 201510 yr Author Yes I'd like to see you record a video of it (include your settings and show your scenery library) ... I don't doubt that OOMs can still happen, but with just one add-on FB KSFO HD seems very unlikely as I've tested that area with many more add-ons and much more complex aircraft than the F-35 included. I just ran the same test with my settings and just KSFO HD (no Orbx NCA enabled) and didn't get an OOM ... over 1GB VAS free ... you have me puzzled? Cheers, Rob. I'm also very curious to your settings, could you please share them? We've tested KSFOHD extensively in P3D v3 many weeks before release. Even with every slider at it's max setting and several add ons running, no OOM was every recorded in v3. I uninstalled it to see if that helps. If it returns back after I reinstall I will be sure to film it for you if I am able to duplicate it. In the mean time, I can tell you what the settings were and btw I was using Nvidia 355.98 drivers with no Nvidia Inspector Tweaks: Graphics Tab: 2560x1440x32 - Vsync Off - Frame Rate Unlimited - FXAA On - MSAA 4 Samples - Aniso 16x - Texture Resolution 4096x4096 - Tessellation Enabled Scenery Tab: Everything in Terrain Category Maxed except for Mesh of 5m with land details checked - Water Medium with Cloud and Vehicle reflections checked no bathemetry - Scenery Objects maxed - Special Effects maxed Lighting Tab: Didn't touch the HDR sliders - Lens Flare, and HDR enabled - Shadow Medium - Terrain Receives Shadows checked - Terrain Shadow Cast distance 0, Cloud Shadow Distance 30,000 (not that it mattered in clear skies) - Object Shadow Cast Distance 6,000 - Internal and External Vehicle Cast and Receive shadows checked with all other unchecked Weather: Cloud Draw Distance 80 with Natural thermals and Volumetric fog checked - Detailed Clouds max - Med weather rate change Traffic: 50% airline - 20% GA - Med Airport Vehicles - Road Vehicles 0 - Ships and ferries and leisure boats 25% Funny thing is, it didn't really take a frame rate hit before it happened like it normally would. I was just coming back to the airport at about 35 fps or so and it just jumped out at me. Like I said, I'll report back if I can duplicate it. Let me guess.... you want 64bit. Josh Daniels-Johannson
September 30, 201510 yr Maybe in a couple of months when the smoke clears. Right now V2.5 works great, good FPS, no stutters, no OOMs, and fixing it isn't necessary. I suppose it depends on what you want really, If you are happy with 2.5, that's cool. Personally im looking forward to V3 for several reasons, New ATC window + Avatar, maybe more load put onto GPU feature and loads of other stuff. Fps problems and stutters? i don't get them, I have a new sassy graphics card  And i now know were to find my Shaders File
September 30, 201510 yr Author Now there are several people in this thread questioning his claim in entirety. +1 Yup, woke up this morning, uninstalled P3D v2.5, went and spent $200 USD and then $89 on a new PMDG plane, just to come here and make up a story about an OOM. It's what I like to do on my Wed afternoons. Don't be ridiculous. You are neither solving a problem nor contributing anything of value here except the same skepticism we can find all over Avsim. Unless you have some sort of substance to your accusations of me not being credible, I don't see why you are here. Let me guess.... you want 64bit. Josh Daniels-Johannson
September 30, 201510 yr Author Humm, Let me guess.. You want a 64bit sim ? lol Nope, I'm not one of those "64 bit" evangelists. I believe a modern and efficient 32 bit program can do the trick. Otherwise you would see more of me in the X-Plane forums. Let me guess.... you want 64bit. Josh Daniels-Johannson
September 30, 201510 yr You trying to implying v3 needs fixing now Bob...... No, there will never be any patches for V3. I am sure that you are convinced that it is perfect now and would never need any..... I think the message I am getting just looking at this thread, is if you dare to imply that there is the slightest thing wrong with V3, you better forget about posting it on this forum, unless you want to get a good ration of BS.
September 30, 201510 yr Hello all, Not to defend his claim but here is my two cents. I just installed v3 in Windows 10 64bit with no add-ons. I took the F22 out of (default) SFO and flew to MRY. Changed planes and departed MRY for SFO. Over Santa Cruz I received an OOM. My settings were relatively high close to max. I don't think we will be the only ones in this boat over the next few days. Regardless, I am happy LM is continuing to work on P3D and hopefully one day we will all put this behind us...! I just wish someone would give us a simulator that takes advantage of today's hardware and feels like P3D. I wish P3D, X-Plane and Outerra would get together and spawn a baby flight simulator that continues to grow over time! Hey, without hope what is there? If it returns back after I reinstall I will be sure to film it for you if I am able to duplicate it. <Snip> Like I said, I'll report back if I can duplicate it. Let's all hope then that this is an anomaly and not indicative of normal usage. Perhaps 4096 with near max settings at an add-on airport is asking too much? As it is still 32 bit, I'm going to keep my settings similar to what I had in 2.5, where I had only a few OOM's. Perhaps now I won't see any. James McLees
September 30, 201510 yr Author Let's all hope then that this is an anomaly and not indicative of normal usage. Perhaps 4096 with near max settings at an add-on airport is asking too much? As it is still 32 bit, I'm going to keep my settings similar to what I had in 2.5, where I had only a few OOM's. Perhaps now I won't see any. It may have also been the way I climbed high and doubled back to the airport which is certainly not something I would normally do at high speed. I didn't think the 4096 textures would hurt with default scenery and clear skies and from what I (think) I remember, KSFOHD is 2048 textures. But that could be my mind playing tricks on me. Anyway, if I am able to duplicate it in any way, I will report back. May just wait it out until ORBX and PMDG come along with their installers. Let me guess.... you want 64bit. Josh Daniels-Johannson
September 30, 201510 yr I can confirm that you can still OOM. But damn did it take a hell of a lot of effort to do so, which is encouraging. It wasn't my machine. I was watching a Twitch stream where the producer was purposely stress-testing it (sliders full right), and he used these addons: - FTX Global + Vectors + openLC Europe - Aerosoft Heathrow - PMDG 777 All of those addons had to be manually installed as the installers don't support v3 yet. The simulator was nearly unplayable at the graphical settings he subjected his machine to. So it seems if you would be by far unsatisfied by bad frame rendering performance well before you OOM.
