It's good to know ORBX are working hard to bring all of their installers to P3D, and for free. Considering it hasn't been out too long, it's pretty impressive and great customer support that they are doing this.

No argument there. However, let's be clear what is meant when we refer to 'their installers'. In the case of PILOT's their installer for FSGlobal 2010 FTX is the setup executable which is a relatively small file. If you have the core (Mesh) files archived from a previously purchased download then these do not need to be downloaded again as they have not changed. All you need to do is switch to the new updated installer which allows for installation in Prepar3D V3. That seems to me to be a very friendly and considerate approach. ORBX, on the other hand, appear to be insisting on their customers re-downloading each complete product from scratch just to use their updated installers. Unless they have made changes to their core files, in addition to installer updates, that hardly seems necessary. For many, this presents a not insignificant challenge in terms of time and their broadband capabilities. Perhaps other changes to their products have indeed been necessary. Problem is ORBX have not said so.

I tried installing A2A C182 outside the root P3D folder and it does not work (yes, I edited SimObjects.CFG fIle accordingly). You must install their aircraft to core folder for it to work and A2A confirmed this is necessary. I guess it will take time for developers to get on board with LM's recommendations.

Interesting, Elaine. I already have a reasonable version of EGCW Welshpool in the Earth Simulations Shawbury Fields package, but this one will probably be even better. The big question will be.....can this version be used with both PlayHorizon VFR GenX photoscenery and also that ES Shawbury Fields package active? It may be worth the asking price to take a gamble! ORBx will no doubt state that FTX Wales is required, but FTX England wasn't required for the FTX England airfields. You just have to know what to tweak  :wink:

Thanks for the heads up Elaine. I have been hoping for an OBX airport in Wales. EDFF Cardiff (which comes bundled with FTX Wales region) is their only one  up to this point, and it's a winner. I am heading over to the Flightsim Store now...

Apologies if that reply came across as rather blunt. It's just that I have VFR GenX photoscenery of Wales, so I have no interest in landclass scenery of the region. By the way, I have purchased and installed FTX EGCW Welshpool airport, but I have not checked it yet. It will almost certainly require tweaking to get it to work properly (and it may be more difficult than I imagine), but it was worth a gamble at only £8 :smile: I will provide an update soon for any other interested VFR GenX owners.

1- KRSW SW Florida : it seems i don't have the surroundings anymore with the new P3D V3 installer, juste the airport. Am i the only one with this result?

Found: option to be ticked in the scenery config panal (unticked by default)

 

 

New problem the configuration tool does keep the options ticked. So impossible to have surroundings & static aircraft...

 

Other bug: the KSNA config tool does not work with the new installer...

 

Any help?
