V3 Developer updated software thread

Cannot say Ive even tried auto gen at max is that with tress at max as well? do you put that down ro P3d or your Titans Rob?

Hi David,

I rarely use SLI these days, almost always single GPU.  Max Autogen trees, buildings, and density.  These are my standard settings I'll use at just about any location: http://www.robainscough.com/P3DV3_Settings_Medium.html

If it's a low AI traffic area and moderate autogen area, I'll venture with these settings: http://www.robainscough.com/P3DV3_Settings_High.html

But if I do run into stutters, I'll play around with those 3 settings I listed above to resolve, everything else stays the same.

On a side note: How's the Milviz F4?

Cheers, Rob.

Interesting ... road traffic, ship traffic, boat traffic doesn't seem to have any affect on my setup (typically run all three at 25%).  However AI Traffic (MT6) does have significant impact ...

Hi Rob,

About Road Traffic . I sometimes have to reload the traffic in the graphic settings to actually get road traffic .

And then back to the main thread which is about new installers into P3Dv3

Ok so I de-selected the major contributors to performance impact in the controlpanel for ORBX NCA, and FPS went from 16 to 24-25. Not running any AI traffic either, but I guess cloud shadows may influence my performance quite a bit.

More of a patch then a release

""Hi all,

Just to advise you that a new patch for Vector is now available. Due to its size, this patch won't be available via FTX Central.

The Vector product page has the list of fixes included https://fullterrain.com/product/ftxgvector#updates

There is no requirement for FTX Central to be set to any particular group when installing this patch.

A new release for Orbtx

Welcome to Rohnerville!

This is the fourth airport for Orbx by Turbulent Designs. Previous works include the KBLU Blue Canyon Triple Pack and KFHR Friday Harbor for Orbx. Rohnerville airport is located within Humboldt County in Northern California. With a short 3 miles flight north you’ll find yourself above the city of Fortuna. To the south is the town of Rio Dell and to the East is Hydesville. Just under a mile to the west is the Eel River, along which we have included approximately a 22 miles of photoreal imagery - from the mouth of the river further to the west, past the airport and carrying on through a valley all the way to the communities of Holmes and Larabee. The airport itself has one 4,005ft asphalt runway. In 2004 on average the airport had 75 aircraft operations per day, or 27,500 annually. 36 aircraft are based at Rohnerville, the majority of which are single engine fixed-wing however, there are some multi-engine and rotorcraft based here too. On the southern apron are pumps and storage tanks, these are used by CAL FIRE aircraft to load fire retardant into Grumman S-2T’s. This helps combat the wildfires that frequently occur in California.

  • High definition airport buildings
  • Accurate high detailed ground polygon
  • 30cm PR coverage of airport and surrounding areas
  • PR coverage including Fortuna, Hydesville and Rio Dell as well as 22nm of the Eel river from the coast near Cock Robin Island all the way to Larabee
  • Scenic valley approach and hilltop location in beautiful Humbolt County, California
  • Points of interest within the towns of Fortuna and Hydesville
  • Hand placed autogen and vegetation
  • ObjectFlow, PeopleFlow, TextureFlow, CreatureFlow
  • By Turbulent Designs

Hi everyone,

My question relates to ORBX FTX. Despite searching the ORBX site I have not been able to achieve clarity regarding their new installers for Prepar3D V3. PILOT'S gave us a new executable file which saved us from having to download FSGlobal 2010 FTX again. Worked like a charm! However, as far as I have understood, life is not so simple with ORBX. We are told that new installers are now available for many of their FTX products and these are available via the downloads listed in the user's account at the Flightsim Store. My next intended install is FTX: Global BASE yet it would appear that I will have to download the whole 4+ GB zip file rather than an updated setup executable. Can anyone confirm that this is the case, please? Don't want to download again what I have already safely archived following the original installation into Prepar3D V2.x

Thanks,

Mike

This is true. You need to redownload Global in full.

Hi Greg,

Thanks, I confess I have been hoping that I was missing something and ORBX wouldn't do this to their loyal customer base. Guess I was wrong :( I have a reasonable uncapped broadband connection and downloading over several hours is rarely a problem, but what about those whose experience is different, fought hard to secure their original files and are now being faced with having to do it all again? Still to d/l GLOBAL Vector, EU Scotland, EU Norway, openLC Europe. Could be worse, I suppose. Fortunately Prepar3D V3 makes it all worthwhile :)

Regards,

Mike

I think its great that Orbx are providing P3DV3 installers for free....at all, rather than gouging like a few other developers around these-here-nether-regions, I dont buy products anymore that charge twice...

Korey - you really need to look at each product individually. The scenery process between FSX and P3D is almost identical. Very little work needs to be done on the product itself, only the installer need be modified and once written can easily be modified to fit a multitude of products - hence lesser cost.

Some products, like aircraft or other specific content need the actual content modified along WITH the installer. This can incur a significant cost and would then be passed on to the consumer,

Painting them all with the same brush is unfair to both the developer and you, as you might miss out on some good products.

I bought and installed P3D v3 this week after downloading all of my previously purchased ORBX scenery (A few regions and a pile of airports). I guess I should have checked beforehand as only the regions (except NZ) would install at the moment. It's good to know ORBX are working hard to bring all of their installers to P3D, and for free, so I guess I'll check back again in a month or so. Considering it hasn't been out too long, it's pretty impressive and great customer support that they are doing this.

I haven't used anything on the FSX platform for a while now, but most of my previously purchased addons, PMDG, RealAir, A2A and other addons such as REX, etc. wouldn't work (Installers expecting a path to FSX, etc). At the moment I'm left with P3D v3 with FTX global, some ORBX regions and the default aircraft. Unfortunately, it's going to cost a lot of money to get my installation back like it was in FSX, and this is money I simply don't have. Most of my really old stuff (which happens to be my favourite) like Carenado's Bonanza F33 etc don't seem to be getting updated installers.

I have installed REX Essential Plus SP3 just fine in P3D v3. As for PMDG/RealAir/A2A planes....you need to purchase P3D versions. Expensive, but necessary.
