Nope, same license works on v3 without additional cost.

Ok so finally having FTX Global+OpenLC on board (+the PMDG777 FS2crew 1.7 version), I did a little test which I knew always pushed the borders of OOM in my P3D 2.5:

In P3D 2.5 (FlyTampa Copenhagen --> Aerosoft Oslo v2)

- LOD radius NORMAL

- Tessalation HIGH

- Scenery complexity NORMAL

- Autogen NORMAL

- Cloud coverage HIGH

- Textures 1024x1024

+ ASN, REX4, REX Soft Clouds, PMDG777, FS2Crew, GSX

VAS usage after shutdown at gate = 3900-4000 MB (depending on amount of clouds, weather)

In P3D v3 (Same scenario/flight/sceneries)

- LOD radius ULTRA

- Tessalation ULTRA

- Scenery complexity VERY DENSE

- Autogen DENSE

- Cloud coverage HIGH

- Textures 2048x2048

+ ASN, REX4, REX Soft Clouds, PMDG777, FS2Crew, GSX and Taburet Norway

VAS usage after shutdown at gate = 2600-2700 MB

That is truly amazing. VAS usage was actually slightly higher when departing than arriving. In fact, I had to check three time because I didn't believe it myself. I honestly don't see how that is even possible. Have to do the flight several times back on fourth to really confirm I guess.

That would make sense to be lower at your arrival with P3Dv3 releasing memory for areas you have left.  FlyTampa EKCH is a "heavier" scenery than AS ENGM so I'd expect to see less at arrival.

My VAS testing results are very similar ... it does depend on your departure and arrival 3rd party products as to whether you'll end higher or lower on the VAS usage.

As I suggested in another thread, if VAS usage is still high and you use non-standard FFTF values which "might" prevent the unloading of resources, then consider using:

Prepar3D.cfg

[sCENERY]
MaxRegionsPurgePerFrame=16

Increase this value will purge memory faster but at the possible cost of some stutters or FPS drop.  I don't change this value, I use the default of 16 and have NOT had OOM issues, but it's something folks can experiment with.

Cheers, Rob.

Did another test, but this time with cloud density set to maximum, water detail ultra. Landed with 1000 MB available, i.e only 3000 MB used.

I don't know whether I want to install FTX Vector now though  :P

FTX Global Vector is just an Orbx rebranding of PILOT'S! FS Global Vector, which is probably why it sucks compared to products actually developed by Orbx.

My big beef with Orbx (besides rebranding) is the paucity of uninstallers, which is acceptable for freeware but amateurish for a payware developer.

I use UTX2.1 for Europe but only the roads and bridges and the lights (FTXopenLCEU for everything else) .  It takes around 150mb of VAS which is nice and looks good.

I do have som strange lights going on . It looks weird . with LOD=6,5 the lights on the roads is like random put and there is these big light balls on the roads that does not look right.

Richard i know you are the man here  :wink:  :smile:  What am i doing wrong. How has you setup the lights ?

Great video - what about the debate with add on sceneries ? Can you get all sceneries from FSX switched to P3d3 ?

Although I would have bought v3 anyway, this video was very informative. Thank you.

I've a 980TI and it certainly makes a difference in terms of performance and nice visual improvements. Also the UI is better, quicker loading, joystick detection bug fix etc. Thumbs up.

Hi Michael. I know you are an avid user of FlyTampa Copenhagen and with the new release of v 1.3, I was wondering if you have installed the hi-res resolution package? I forgot to do it, but I was thinking on trying it out, now that LM has done massive improvements with VAS usage.
