March 6, 201610 yr I am reasonably certain that it is supposed to be "0". Thanks, I'll let you know how it goes. March 6, 201610 yr Do you have the following entry in the [MAIN] section of your Prepar3d.cfg file? SimObjectPaths.0=SimObjects\UT2 Aircraft The Prepar3D.cfg doesn't hold simobjects data anymore, they changed that in V3. The Simobjects.cfg is now used from the C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v3 folder. i7-13700KF, 32gb DDR4 3200, RTX 4080, Win 11, MSFS 2024
March 6, 201610 yr Should be fine - thanks Losing the will here! I followed your direction and in fact noted that I was not using the most recent EMT (3.0.2.995), so thanks for that. I installed the latest version, enabled it, kept it open, reinstalled UT2 (after uninstalling with EMT disabled), checked and double checked changes made to prepar3d.cfg, exe, UT2settings.cfg and simobjects (although the latter maybe not needed according to previous post above from Christopher). I did this three times and I'm still getting: "There are multiple root elements, Line 11, position 2". I'm no expert by any stretch of the imagination, but I guess UT2 is looking to load into a virtual FSX and finding more than one possibility, or do I have that wrong? Did you uninstall both UT2 and made sure you cleaned up any leftovers - also did you change any cfg files manually - I did and it wouldn't work - you shouldnt have to touch anything anymore - tool does it all for you Need to know if you removed all the entries from cfg file - eml and exe.dll files you would want them fresh before new install - believe me it works - it should a fresh start - also use ccleaner before installing fresh - forgot about that Rich Sennett

March 7, 201610 yr This is a very interesting thread as I also initially struggled with UT2 installation. Mine is up and running after a clean install this weekend following the OP's instructions. If I wanted to install the powerpacks and updated schedules, how do I do that? Is that just a simple installation routine or are there fiddly odds and ends that need to be edited? Do I install them with EMT enabled or disabled? cheers

I ran CCleaner again (I did this before, but as you also suggested it, I thought it wouldn’t hurt to run it again) I installed and enabled EMT (latest version!). I installed UT2, made no tweaks, didn’t touch any cfg files, rebooted, started up UT2 and got this message: Program Error Error loading aircraft assignments. InvalidArgument=Value of ‘0’ is not valid for ‘SelectedIndex’. Parameter name: SelectedIndex After clicking ‘OK’, it opened the user interface. I then set the sliders at 30% and ran the two updates for Airlines and GA. Rather than mess around with any tweaking, changing or adding to cfg files, I thought I would ask for advice before proceeding further. What do you suggest? One thing I'll try in the meantime, is to download UT2 afresh as well, I wonder if my current UT2 download folder is corrupted or missing something? By the way, is the message above related to the UT2 Aircraft files? I understand from Poppet’s post above that they are normally installed by default, here? C:\Users\Name\AppData\Roaming\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v3\SimObjects – if so, there appears to be no UT2 relevant aircraft folder here. I have in fact 413 folders and 2 files in this folder. No, I was just getting you to confirm that the Installation went ok, by checking your Main Prepar3D core folder for the UT2 Aircraft in Simobjects

However, I'm right back to where I began with the error; "Error loading default UT2 or FSX settings", There are multiple root elements, Line 11, position 2" Agghhhh!! :-) Windows 10 (x64) Intel Core i7-7700K - 8.00G NVIDIA GeForce GT 1080ti NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 2 x Iiyama 23" + 3 x NEC 27" Monitors Flight sim from AlpineSystems Prepar3D v4 ORBX PMDG737 PMDG777 ActiveSky REX A2A Cessna 172 Pro-ATC
March 7, 201610 yr I don't know if this has anything to do with that error but you could first Confirm that your Path is properly set up here. I don't use the EMT tool (Not anymore) so the Configuration on the EMT tool install could be different Ignore my path, but this is just to show you what i mean. Make sure you have this set correct for your Path and the location of the Correct .cfg for where you have this SimObjectPaths.0=SimObjects\UT2 Aircraft And Ignore the red box.

You are forgetting that UT2 does not know anything about P3D. It is only interested in FSX. The various install instructions for UT2 in P3D include making sure that line is in the Prepar3d.cfg file. I changed this as suggested (which I had done on previous installation attempts) and when I reopen UT2, it asks me to locate the FSX exectuable, so I point it at the Prepar3D v3 folder. It seems happy with that and then I once again receive my nemesis error...
