January 17, 201610 yr Moderator The VC isn't the best for visual quality but at the same time I don't think its truly that bad. As said the depth of the systems and the flight dynamics make up for it. I'll definitely be buying Compared to what? The VC is very high quality and everything is easily readable on a 32" Sony TV at 1920x1080. It's a lot sharper than the 2D panel. Ray (Cheshire, England). January 17, 201610 yr Commercial Member Great systems and sounds overall. Unfortunately, still sits in my hangar after only flying it maybe a dozen times. VAS was a killer for me, and also the awful wobbling and rocking (mostly in roll and yaw modes) with any kind of weather program loaded. A 5 knot wind on takeoff, approach, or really anything below supersonic would surly be making the passengers sick and one of the bumpiest sim experiences I've had. Shame since I love the aircraft and have quite a collection of memorabilia from her, and of course spent good money on the product. I'll have to wait for the reviews myself before spending the money to upgrade. Kyle Weber (Private Pilot, ASEL; Flight Test Engineer)Check out my repaints and downloads, all right here on AVSIM
January 17, 201610 yr Also at least for me the VAS Ussage got a lot better. At FSX Times i started in EGLL with 400-450 MB VAS left now i have 950 MB left with ASN, Aerosoft EGLL extended, FS Global , Vector and LC Europe and after the landing in KJFK with FTX LC US and drezweky design new york x v2 with hi-res and fsdreamteam kjfk i have still 350 MB left. That's great news. In the previous FSX version, I could only avoid OOMs with this bird by using default FSX EGLL and KJFK. Trying to use either Aerosoft EGLL or FSDT KJFK would deplete all VAS every time. I'll be using it in P3D 3.1 once it is released. January 17, 201610 yr Moderator Kyle, Around 350Mb of VAS has been recovered meaning it's possible to fly from Aerosoft's Heathrow to FS DreamTeam's JFK v2 and still have around 600Mb of VAS when parked. Previously that would have been 250Mb and FSUIPCs warnings sounding. With ASN I can hand-fly approaches into JFK with a 10-15kt crosswind with no excessive roll or yaw. And if I can do that at 64 I'm sure you as a much younger bloke can. London - Barbados in 3hr 50m last week. That's a 9 hour flight in a 777. Have I just made the decision easier for you? Ray (Cheshire, England). January 17, 201610 yr Have I just made the decision easier for you? The feedback so far looks really promising. However, my problem is that learning to fly this bird would just take too much time for me as the system complexity is on PMDG level. And my hangar is full of complex stuff. Got enough challenges flying the PMDG NGX, 777, Majestic Dash 8, Aerosoft Airbus... And even though I have spent quite some time on all of these birds, there is still so much to discover... And then there is also the FSL Airbus in sight. Even more complexity... No space for another complex bird in the hangar... [email protected] ∣ Asus ROG Strix B650E-E ∣ 64Gb@6000MT ∣ NVidia 5090 FE
January 17, 201610 yr Moderator The feedback so far looks really promising. However, my problem is that learning to fly this bird would just take too much time for me as the system complexity is on PMDG level. The secret is to print the tutorial and take it into the garden and read it in slow time. That's what I did a couple of years ago and when you then sit in front of the cold and dark panel it's not so daunting. You can be up and running with a few key steps... Load fuel, pax and engine settings with the supplied Calculator. Connect Ground Power (Concorde had no APU). Align the 3 INSs and load plan with first 9 waypoints. Switch on Inverters. Start engines 3 and 2. Pushback Start 1 and 4. Lower visor and nose Taxi out setting a few switches on overhead panel. That, in essence, is all there is. There are other systems to switch on but it's just a case of switch changing. Takes around 20 mins. You'll save nearly 4 hours on a LHR-JFK fight. Leave fuel mgmt to the Virtual Flight Engineer. Better to be master of a few complex aircraft than a jack of many. Regarding time, you save a load. I crossed the pond from EGLL to JFK in 3h 27m this morning and that was with some 100+kt winds around OWENZ. Seven + hours in a 777. Ray (Cheshire, England). January 17, 201610 yr And my hangar is full of complex stuff. Got enough challenges flying the PMDG NGX, 777, Majestic Dash 8, Aerosoft Airbus... And they're all the same concept, highly automated glass cockpits! Concorde is real old school, analog and steam! It's immensely rewarding when you have successfully navigated across the pond and followed a STAR using nothing but a paper flight plan and VOR/INS with no moving map in sight! Always good to try something new and add a bit of variety! January 17, 201610 yr I agree, this one is a different breed and worth the experience. Just for the sheer difference in performance it offers. Fun stuff, can't wait to get back in the cockpit. Are we thinking a week or months? Allen, flight sim lover and AA-5 Traveler owner
