December 27, 20169 yr Author Hi Tommy, you shouldn't have to move the files manually. The first time you run a RXP installer for XPlane, it prompts you for the XP10 (or XP9, or XP11 soon) folder. The 'browse folder' dialog opens and you must select a valid folder, that is one which contains the X-Plane.exe with the corresponding version number (9, 10 or 11). Once done, the installer saves a registry key to facilitate further installations, and always checks this registry first to preselect the valid path. The installer should always prompt you for the XPlane path then. Isn't it what's happening when you run the installer?
December 27, 20169 yr Yes, one would think that would work, but when it installs the trainer files, they are going into the main HDD, which is not where XP9 and/or10 are. And there is no way to change that. I am currently moving all P3D files and ORBX to make room, and try with a complete re-install. Thank you for the suggestions though Jean-Luc, I really do appreciate the help. Tommy
December 29, 20169 yr Well, I got the GTN installed into XP-10, but the screen is blank/transparent. I saw somewhere that people had this type of problem back in October, but it was solved with the next version. My version or RealityXP Garmin GTN 750/650 (XPlane) is 2.2.4.0 Running Windows 10 Home Any ideas? I've tried rebooting computer, tried running XP10 as admin. Is there possibly a virus protection thing going on?? Thanks, Tommy
December 29, 20169 yr Author Tommy, can you please post the content of rxpGnsSim.dll.log and rxpGNS.xpl.log files in "my documents" folder?
December 29, 20169 yr Man, You are throwing me for a loop with that request...Where are those log files at? I did a search on my system for both of those, and neither came up. I think I found it, How do I attach it? Nope, what i found was just the Log.txt for X-Plane.
December 29, 20169 yr You don't have to install the trainer to the XP folder... only the RXP files. I think you're confusing yourself here. You're seeing people like me talk about moving files around to XP11.... this is JUST to get things running in XP11. In XP10 the installer does all the work. All you have to do is let the trainer (the huge 2 GB file or whatever it is these days) install (I thought you could pick the location, but if not it would go to the C: ) There's a more advanced way to install it to another location and have the RXP GTN use that install location, it's documented the manual under "Installing Multiple Garmin Trainers" (page 9 of the pdf file which is in your XP10 resources/plugins/RXP folder) Mine is installed somewhere else: Once that is done the core RXP files will install to the XP plugins folder (my example here as well) The two files RXP is asking for are located here C:\Users\your user name\Documents | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
December 29, 20169 yr Author yes and because I'm prepping the GNS release, I've also made a typo in the file names! It should read "rxpGtnSim.dll.log" and "rxpGTN.xpl.log"
January 6, 20179 yr Hi Tommy, you shouldn't have to move the files manually. The first time you run a RXP installer for XPlane, it prompts you for the XP10 (or XP9, or XP11 soon) folder. Once done, the installer saves a registry key to facilitate further installations, and always checks this registry first to preselect the valid path. The installer should always prompt you for the XPlane path then. Isn't it what's happening when you run the installer? I just purchased the RXP addon.. when i run the installer for an XP11 installation and point it to the folder.. it says its not a valid XP10 folder.. do i have to install to XP10 then copy files over the XP11 structure? Sounded like from other people here this would work just by pointing the installer to the XP11 install path, but its not working for me.. January 6, 20179 yr Author The GTN installer only offers XP10 and XP9 options because at the time of its release, in version 2.2.4, it was not entirely 'smooth' with XP11 beta (b1 at the time). In order to install into XP11, you'd need to install it in XP10 and manually move the plugin files. Having said that, with the RXP GNS 530W/430W V2 just released and thanks to the enhancements in the plugin against XP11 beta3, we are now working full steam on the RXP GTN 750/650 Touch v2.# next. It targets the latest GTN Trainer v6.21 as well as includes stability enhancements and installer option for XP11. This shouldn't take very long.
January 6, 20179 yr Thanks Jean-Luc. Anxiously awaiting RXP GTN50 v2 and good luck with your new product. Howard Jetline Systems: Intel 8th Gen Core i7 8700K (4.8GHz Overclock); GTX 1080 Ti; LG Curved UltraWide 3440x1440 Monitor .
January 12, 20179 yr Commercial Member RealityXP Garmin GTN 750/650 Lovely thanks - and I enjoy it a lot ! however just to let you know; I also understand that xp11 is a beta version; gtn750 at times crash xp11 when starting the sim - not always but just at times. would be great if it can be sorted ! tx
January 13, 20179 yr Just updated to X-Plane 11pb6 and GTN/GNS plugins crash it every time at startup.
January 14, 20179 yr Author We are yet to try b6, but is there any information reported in X-Plane\Log.txt file that can help?
January 14, 20179 yr Just updated to X-Plane 11pb6 and GTN/GNS plugins crash it every time at startup. Same here. Something's definitely amiss. Let me know if you can track down what's wrong.
January 14, 20179 yr I just did a complete reinstall of XP11 pb3, and new install of RXP GTN750, on fresh Win10 SSD, now getting error message "Missing WinSparkle.dll" from RealityXP. Any ideas on this? The only files in RealityXP folder is the license, and the setup.exe. Tommy rxpGTN.xpl 17/01/14 19:03:10.243 03164 - ] # win.xpl version 2.2.4.0
