February 6, 20179 yr Alternatively, they could have distant lights fade in instead of the jarring "pop" we have now... or is that just on my system?

February 6, 20179 yr Ben explained one time afaik, that basically atm they dont have a way to show lights without the buildings being loaded. While at day you do not realize buildings apearing in the far distance, at night you get that effect. They are not happy with that and plan to do something about it down the road. ATM we are stuck with it.
February 6, 20179 yr Moderator Many of the streetlights seem a short LOD on them, e.g. ATTR_LOD 0 750 (which means visible from 750 metres). I guess the distance of the streetlights could be increased by changing this value, but I haven't tried. I'm sure it was set like this for a reason

But it's obviously not something that is easy to fix or they would have fixed it already.
February 7, 20179 yr Author Hang in there Brian XP11 will be amazing in the future Make sure you go here to fix factory 737 which looks awesome Zibo's amazing work http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/forums/topic/111305-boeing-b738-800-modified/ Also a ton of beautiful paints in the skins download section for this bird Going to take a bit longer before developers are able to get stable products - XP11 RTM is what they are waiting for Quick question any way to get lights at night to show at a farther distance at altitude ? seems very low - wondering if there is a tweak to make lights appear farther out - thanks Thanks for the add-on. Big improvement (though the SoundFX are kill'n me.. XD). Way way way not PMDG quality. FS2Crew spoiled me also. I had to remember how to do both PIC and PM jobs to get this bird out of KDAL. NIce SWA paint job on this defaultX plane. Looks like my CPU can't handle MAX autrogen. Put it on High and I get about 28-30 in the VC @ Dallas. I am crusing toward Armstrong Int KMSY on a short test hop. I see the potential. I do but X-Plane is NOT ready for Airline operations flying... not the hardcore way anyway. Guess we'll have to make do eh? X-Plane has not won me over but I'll play around in it and do my airline ops flights in P3D still. I MIGHT pick up xEnviro. Is there an add-on to fix the wonky head movement with your mouse? It's way to fast. I like it to float a little bit and not be so ZOOM! ZOOM! WHIP WHIP ZOOOOOM! Tone it down a bit. I feel like I am giving my captain whiplash with default mouse head movement in the VC. lol Captain K-Man FlightBlog Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCulqmz0zmIMuAzJvDAZPkWQ // Streaming on YouTube most Wednesdays and Fridays @ 6pm CST Brian Navy

February 7, 20179 yr I do but X-Plane is NOT ready for Airline operations flying... not the hardcore way anyway. Really? I've logged (since beta 1) around 100 hours in IXEG 737 and FF767/757. What is "hardcore flying" in your definition any way? Waiting for OOM? Save & reload kind of flying? I tried several legs over 9 hours real time in beta 9 with + xEnviro and everything maxed out. Not a single glitch! I deleted my P3D and didn't regret a second Life time flight sim enthusiast, current airplane owner 172P (past C182F). I just like not having to mess aroud with loaded scenery just to avoid OOMs and the like. I can have all my scenery loaded no problem. 4790K @4.9GHz, 32GB DDR3, 1080Ti, W10-64bit

I deleted my P3D and didn't regret a second Yeah, Really. For my needs I would like: 1. A study level simulation of the aircraft I am interested in flying. I am not interested in aircraft built in 1980 such as the 737-300. I prefer more modern heavy iron. Hopefully PMDG will take care of this before I die of old age. 2. First officer simulation. I think the only solution right now is MCE which I didn't like in FSX/P3D. It will be no different in X-Plane. The speech is way to unnatural sounding in all the demos I've watched. It's powerful no doubt but requires a lot of setup on the end users part. I guess you can always download someone else's scripts if you don't want to do it yourself. 3. PAX simulation. Tools such as FS Captain and FS Passengers put the icing on the cake for simulating airline operations in FSX/P3D. I don't think there is anything that does this for X-Plane yet. 4. ATC suite that understands SIDS/STARS procedures and can actually interact with me and sound authenticate doing it. X-Plane's ATC out of the box is terrible to me. Pro-ATC/X is my go to for this in P3D. I wish I had the same for X-Plane. VATSIM is NOT a solution for this. 5. True AI traffic that can clog up the airport and delay you, just like iRL. I think X-Life Deluxe handles this for X-Plane? I haven't had the chance to play with it. Out of the box though, AI is non existent. A lot of freeware airports come with great looking static aircraft thanks to MisterX and other contributors but they are just static and in fact break immersion if the airport designer forgot to block off a gate where a static craft was placed. I spawned in at a freeware KDAL last night for testing purposes right inside another 737. We all have our idea of what 'Hardcore' means. That is part of mine. X-Plane does not deliver TO ME what I want just yet. I have done 2 full flights now and I see the potential. It is very close but not quite there yet for me. And for goodness sake.. Laminar... PLEASE... fix the terrible sky banding problem during dusk/dawn operations and even at night. My eyes bleed every time I see it. Does xEnviro fix that by chance? FF 757 and 767 are excellent though maybe these are too old for you as well considering they're even older than the 733. What do you consider modern "iron" 2. No real solution. Though there is X-Copilot which is shared cockpit and works with several add-ons. 3. No real solution. 4. No automated solution though a computer will never give you more realism than an actual person. Have you tried PilotEdge? They have a 2 week free trial though the limited coverage area is probably a deal breaker for you. 5. X-Life does do this though I don't have it personally as I don't think the performance trade-off is worth it. XP11 is still in beta so the sky banding will be fixed eventually, LR is aware of this and many other issues. 4790K @4.9GHz, 32GB DDR3, 1080Ti, W10-64bit
February 7, 20179 yr And for goodness sake.. Laminar... PLEASE... fix the terrible sky banding problem during dusk/dawn operations and even at night. My eyes bleed every time I see it. Does xEnviro fix that by chance? That's a known issue that Ben says will be fixed. We're still in beta, not even at a release candidate yet. Regarding the airliner modeling, I understand that some enthusiasts like yourself won't be satisfied until every add-on in FSX/P3D is duplicated (or better) in X-Plane. As a GA pilot, I have my own personal gripes about the weather modeling and lack of true thunderstorms. At the same time, I think Laminar is on the right track in making sure the underlying flight sim is a solid high-performance platform for current and future add-ons. There is no point in slapping on a crust of 3rd party add-ons if the underlying sim isn't good enough. February 7, 20179 yr the iexg 737 is every bit as good as the pmdg 737ngx, if you can fly the NGX you will find the 733 even more satisfying to fly, a bit more challenging but the fmc inputs are very similar, and honestly the sounds are better in the ixeg then the pmdg ngx. The FF 757 is awesome as well, i just bought it but its every bit as good as the ixeg in terms of quality. I will say the JAR A320 needs work but it has tons of potential to be every bit as good as the aerosoft or better eventually. And what do you mean by modern metal? LMAO the A320 series was developed in the 80s, as was the 737 classic so not sure what you mean by that comment? 1.
