On The Fence... STILL

That Better Sky got rid of all the banding issues. Everything looks great now!

But it's not compatible with xEnviro is it?

Yes it works with Xenviro but banding is still there - better but still not right - Laminar needs to fix this basically

Interesting so does Better Sky replace the XE textures?

The sky issue is on the fix list with Laminar

Xenviro does not fix banding

It might not fix it altogether, but it does seem far better to me ymmv.

What I like about Xenviro is that I don't get amymore those "manga" colours at dawn and sunset, like some honestly unbelievable purple and orange all the way .

It does a great job on the whole. It sometimes throws up some odd combination, where the sky lighting doesn't match the terrain lighting, but overall it makes the most realistic atmospheric environment I've ever seen in a sim, even with its low resolution textures. It does a far better job than AS16 in P3D in the situations I've compared.

As far as weather goes xE takes the crap weather element away from XP, which has always been a sticking point for me, although I would like manual control as well.

XEnviro comes with its own skydome and unless you tick it of, there is no skybanding. However, the ambient-light is still x-plane default so it looks out of place at dusk and dawn (the ambiente-light). Most notable in the cockpit. To yellowish most of the time IMHO. Can be cured with some replacement textures.

I think this was explained in one of the dev blogs as a known bug. At dusk and dawn (only those times) with a colored sky, the ambient sky light is directly lighting the instrument panel, as if the body of the plane wasn't there. That's why the instrument panel has that yellow-orange look -- it's directly reflecting the sky light behind the plane. Since it's a known bug it should be fixed, eventually.

They moved XP11 release date till the end of March now - showing on steam at the moment but we all know that can change in a blink of an eye

Good thing, I wouldn't want to see a Steam launch with glaring bugs still there.

Xenviro does not fix banding - platform needs to be fixed but look here havent tried it yet might help out until Laminar fixes the issue

That huge bright light in shot #2 on that xplane org link

The sun is a huge ball of light - looks like a nuclear blast went off. Nighttime is worse for sure.

Hold on now, did someone say this was going to be on steam?

Will it be in Steam VR?
