YesMy perception was that when Boeing changed their timeline - the development of the "Challenge" wasn't ready.A shame - it would have been interesting to see several people flying on line around the world keeping pace with the real aircraft in freshly painted default B777's.

Actually, I went back and checked my old emails from MS. I got my official notice for beta testing FS9 on January 23rd 2003. So, if its an Xmas release 2006, January would be about right.Eric

Sounds like you've been buying the wrong add-ons :-) . - Doug

Hi allFS10 coming up...Well I'll admit, I have mixed feelings about that. Reason: Well, normally I buy just 1 or 2 things for any given FS, but this time I have made quite an investment in FS2004. Most of it is really envelope-pushing planes, like LDS767, Concorde (both PSS and SSTSIM) and other like it. What is the chance they will work in FS10? And if not, what is the chance that they will be patched to an acceptable standard = works the same as FS2004?I dunno... It will take a lot of convincing...Just my 2 centsBRGDS Sven Sorensen, EKCH

It is to be released Q4 of 2006. Does that mean that it will be called "MSFS2007"?

I probably spent over 1000$ on addons for FS9, but i will be one of the first in line to buy FSX and then i will not look back at FS9 anymore. A new sim and many new great addons will follow, its a great hobby.OHN

Just to clarify: Q4 2006: Is that calendar year Q4 or fiscal year Q4?Could be a summer release if it is the latter.Jim

You took the words out of my mouth !!!happy 2006eric / Rio

Lets all hope the initial release goes a little better then that of the XBOX 360, I know two totally different subjects... I was going to post when these threads first started that maybe the article in PCGAMER meant to say Feb 2007, a little later then Q4 2006, but that will probably be pretty close.I to got a kick out of the posts that made PC GAMER out to be the gospel truth, magazines post release dates all the time and they are never right. Well, we have yet another year with FS2004 and frankly I am glad because I was going to have to buy a new computer when it came out and now it can wait... I am really hoping for backwards compatibility with at least the aircraft, life without my PMDG 747 would be killer... I am sure it will all work out in the end.

I am pretty sure good addons from realiable developers will be converted - re-developed for new version, so I don't worry about it. Hopefully new version will allow addon developemnt on much higher level technically than it is right now.I believe that new FS10 will bring only good changes, that's why I cannot wait for release :)

Calendar year Q4.

>LOL!>>Don't think Microsoft will knock on my door unless they see me>post here:>>Upgraded to new 64 bit (insert AMD or Pentium)>Upgraded O/S to something resembling Windows XP>I know you beta'ed FS2004. And I even knew you have a P3/800 or something like that. But I thought SURELY you beta tested it with a borrowed system or something else. If not, I guess that was a good development strategy by MS, to beta all different types and levels of systems. And I still say, some people here will disappear from the forums!! When you sign an NDA, doesn't that preclude you from posting on forums such as AVSIM?

"When you sign an NDA, doesn't that preclude you from posting on forums such as AVSIM?"It does as far as posting about the beta in progress, but most NDA's don't and/or can't control your postings on other topics. Your typical NDA does not allow you to EVER post about what went on during a beta. I suppose any contract could be enforced, but there would be a lack of beta participants, and it would reveal who they were by a rather conspicuous absence.-John

I guess I better start saving my money to buy a new computer in case I can't run it on my current one :).

Dual Video Cards, Massive Ram, Vista OS, 5:1 Speaker system, 21" Monitor at least, 4.0+Gig Processor, etc.I'll start shopping in August for it....the later the better since Technology is changing on a daily basis.
