You know what killed the transputer hype? The acknowledgement that not every algorithm can be solved in parallel. Furthermore: more parallel systems mean more interprocess communication, which is a bottleneck of its own. So parallel computing raises its own overhead. While it is rather simple for developers to put more cores into a computer it is rather difficult to make a programm faster with parallel threads. While there are now methods to distribute the main render process into multiple processes this process is rather tricky and in several situations these methods can slow the system down! The whole idea is nothing new. Some small things can be improved by this way, but the biggtest improvements were already done a long time ago. This is the reason why you have a GPU. This is the unit that is optimised for prallel programming. Karsten Schubert

Cryss, to a tin-foil hatter like me that sounds suspiciously like you'll be choosing which questions you want to answer (ie the easy ones that make good marketing schwing!) and leaving a whole lot of difficult ones hanging..? As a significant part of my enjoyment is freeware realistic terrain content creation, some questions I would definitely like to hear answer to please are: a) will there be some kind of SDK? b) when can we expect it to be released; and c) what tools will be available (including will existing community tools be able to be used to an extent, even if they need to reworked a bit?) We've got you covered! Hi Cryss, Nice work in the new Dev Diary video! Flight Sim World - Early Access Dev Diary A lot of nice looking graphical touches. I do have a gripe over the very basic looking asphalt textures used at airports which seems to be a carry over from Flight School. It's such a shame to see these poor tectures against the beautiful looking planes. 0:15 is a good example of this, but also there is an image on steam which also shows these ugly looking ground textures. Can this be looked at, it would make a huge difference to use a better quality textures at airports. I'm sure this could be done fairly economically. First image I found from google was a DCS World airport and you can see the beautiful plane models now don't look out of place when placed on the tarmac. Keep up the excellent work. UPDATE 11/05/17 23:15: I've just seen Jordan Kings first preview video of FSW and the airport textures there look much better than the screenshot above, hopefully this continues to improve. Cheers, Dave. Edited May 11, 20179 yr by dtrjones
May 13, 20179 yr Is there still going to be giant autogen like in FSX , that is the main thing i dont like about the scenery
May 23, 20179 yr Aimee / Cryss, Is it possible to release more comprehensive documentation than is currently available? All I can find is the Quick Start Guide linked from the Steam client. In particular I'd like more information on the use of the GPS and Glass Cockpits, at the moment I'm not sure that what appear to be bugs are really bugs or my not understanding how those instruments are intended to be used. More info sooner rather than later might reduce spurious bug reports as well as enhance the user experience.
May 24, 20179 yr Yes, please. If you have FSX, there's a lot of info on GPS usage and the G1000 in the learning center, navigation section Or I see someone has a copy of the docs online: http://www.krepelka.com/fsweb/learningcenter/lc_index_keytopicsmain.htm Barry Friedman
May 25, 20179 yr This is a fairly minor issue and doesn't stop me from using FSW, but I was curious about it anyway: every time I've ever cranked up FSW and the Dovetail Live Login registration window popped up asking me for an email and password, I fill it out and then hit okay and it says 'sorry you cannot register at this time'. Is this because the feature isn't set up yet or is it simply busted? Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here

May 25, 20179 yr I registered a week or so back and I can login in FSW but the login isn't saved and has to be repeated next time I start the sim.

If we had that we could test whether or not the systems were working as programmed, see any differences from the prototypes and report back to help you to get things right. For example last night I tried to operate the G500 and autopilot in the Seneca using the makers manuals and found enough differences to make me give up in frustration! I was left wondering if the differences were by design, error or because those items are still unfinished.
May 26, 20179 yr Moderator You can refer to the FSX/A or FSX:SE Learning Center docs to see what limited functionality is included in the G500. They are the same as in FSW. Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
