Anyone else using p3d v4 have the banding issue?

Click on Menu next to the PFD MFD and select PFD resolution.  It is set at 88%.  I went to 100% but still see some banding.  I am wondering if that setting in the P3DV4 config that sets your VC resolution to the max is the cause (Panels - MAX_VC_TEXTURE_RESOLUTION=2048).  The default was 1024.  I raised mine to 2048.  I'm going to 4096 to see if that helps.

EDIT:  Did not work.

Jim, I believe that just sets the brightness levels, not resolution.

The file that displays the horizon background looks like it's in ...gaugesEMB505_G1000.CAB - pfd_att_sky_ground2.bmp ... open that file up and it looks fine, so there must be some translation/setting issue in the display code.

Cheers, Rob.

Thanks! I went with the next best alternative, the Premier 1. It's excellent!

MSFS 2020, what an amazing sim!

Since you never owned the Phenom 300, it is a wise choice.  I'm staying with the Phenom 300.  I was considering the Premier 1 before this update but the aircrafts are too similar (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Embraer_Phenom_300 and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beechcraft_Premier_I.  No reason to spend $80 (when getting both) and have almost the exact same aircraft with the same features sitting in your virtual hangar.  The Phenom 300 is my first aircraft using the G1000 that I have been successful at programming and taking off and landing while using the system.  I consider that a great accomplishment!  I have to admit I had to watch several FS MaNia and other videos recommended on the Carenado site to get it set up properly but that's the neat thing about the Internet.  Got lots of so-called experts to show us visually how to fly.  I also like all of the eye-candy Carenado offers in all of their aircraft.  One of the reasons I upgraded to the system shown in my signature (okay, PMDG was the other reason...).

Best regards,

Jim

Hi Rob,

The code is identical for the FSX and P3DV4 version, so the lighting system in P3D must have something to do with it.  HDR off is different than HDR on..

I have asked Carenado to look into this.. not sure how they achieve the gradual color changes, maybe something in the model code.. the file you found does not appear to have the individual steps..

Edit:

The bmp file for V2 is actually different than the previous FSX version.. If you swap back the original bmp file, it looks OK again.

Not sure how that would work, since P3D is 64bit?  Are you sure about that, I thought G1000 had 64bit DLL as I'm pretty sure it's a C++ and/or DX gauge?

Oh, that's interesting!!  I don't have access to FSX Version BMP ... can you PM me?   I created a support ticket with Carenado also.

Cheers, Rob.

I downloaded V2 and installed it in FSX. I got Bert's MOD for the GTN 750 installed and took a couple est flights. One from KGTF to KGPI and completed ILS R/W 2 at KGPI with no problem.  Returned to KGTF and did RNAV R/W 21.  The MD worked great as Bert's always do.

Thank Bert

I think from all the aircraft update releases  caused by P3D v4 I've learnt that the quickest way to get the update is to originally purchase from the "Manufacturer", ie, in this case , Carenado.

Still waiting for the online store I got the 300 from to make V2.0 available.

Well I have done some testing and found some issues.

1) VNAV doesn't work anymore.

2) When entering a flightplan via the procedure button you only got the option to select an approach so no departure or arrival anymore.

3) When entering a flightplan via the FPL button. I first entered the departure icao code I hit enter got a CTD.

4) And like Bert allready commented the color banding on the MFD and PFD the ISFD looks ok.

That's it for now I'm doing some more testing tonight.

Cheers

After some more testing there is some good and some bad news. I start with the bad news.

1) Like I said the vnav button doesn't work.

2) Entering a flightplan via the procedure button doesn't give an option the select the departure or arrival.

3) The CTD I got is gone I had some more CTD's all of them were related to ntdll.dll

4) The color banding is still there.

After pressing the T/O button I don't hear the "Take off ok" or any other announcement. Don't press the T/O button if you haven't set the aircraft ready for take off or else you get to hear an annoying tune.

Now the good news.

1) The engines or now off from start up.

2) You can set the transponder in VFR, ON or STANDBY mode.

3) Fuel flow is less then it was so more miles to fly .

3) The weather radar seems to be working.

4) The ICAO codes and waypoints naming are displayed in the MFD.

Cheers

Is that weather radar working in v4?

I appreciate the beta testing.  Seems as soon as Carenado releases a new product we have beta testers coming out of the woodwork!  Only thing you found wrong was the VNAV not working.  That's a pretty important button.  I would say it is not working because the flight plan has not been properly setup where altitudes are automatically entered.  If they are not automatically entered, and you did not adjust them manually, then no need for VNAV w/the AP.  The problem is with the FPL.  They have a tutorial on setting up a FPL and adding/removing waypoints.  As I recall I had to use VS to take the aircraft up to altitude and down to landing as it did not work properly in the previous version too.  Still they have guidance in the Navigraph G1000 Manual on the last page.  VNAV should work once that is completed.

Although I heard the GTN 750 works, it costs about $65.  I know you can integrate it with other aircraft but it seems to be an expensive option.

NTDLL errors are caused by a bad overclock where the CPU voltage is too high or too low; very high P3D and display driver settings; and, of course, an incompatible AI if using MyTrafficX for traffic.  There are others in the AVSIM CTD Guide.  Extremely doubtful it was caused by the Phenom 300 except that it has a lot of eye-candy and high settings could trigger a bad CPU voltage setting.  Even experts cannot set the CPU voltage setting properly and stress tests will always show no problems with the settings but FSX and P3D are different stress testers and they can create their own stress.

I haven't had a chance to play with the aircraft other than to take it up for a test flight.  Love the loud engines roar!

Best regards,

Jim

Hi Jim,

What do you mean by "we have beta testers coming out of the woodwork" ?

And the only thing I found wrong is the VNAV button? What about the flight plan? Like I said you can't enter a flightplan because you don't get the options like I mentioned in previous posts. When you have the time try to fill out a flightplan.

I am the author of the tutorial in this forum posted.so I know a bit about the aircraft. (link below).

No overclocking in my system and never had a CTD before but maybe like you said it's related to Mytraffic6 we'll see.

Best regards,

Cees
