You got a ban instantly without any possibility to discuss or explain how it was meant. A ban means you do not have access to the software any more! I do not think this is accurate or fare. I have followed the ProATC/X-forums for several years and I think the moderators and support are doing a great job. Both trying to find solutions to software problems and helping pilots to manage SID/STAR/route-procedures. Some years ago the forums was not a nice place to visit and this due to some very load and often rude users. Those users even made moderators give up on their task. And after the newly released version the moderators have worked around the clock to help users. Good work! Are there bugs? Of cource! Do we want more features? Yes, and probably one more... But I enjoy ProATC/X in every flight and most of the time it is working great and have done so for many years! Edited March 27, 20188 yr by doublem typo
March 27, 20188 yr I wonder if they fixed the problem with the darn thing crashing every time I got IFR clearance, which I posted on their forum and never got a response to... just like so many other problems people have had during their 6-12 month "release" cycles where broken stuff rarely actually get fixed. After breaking it out to try again a few weeks ago, and finding a lot of the same old problems still present, I once again shelved this product and have been having much better luck splitting my time between PF3 and Pilot2ATC, depending on whether or not I want voice interaction.

But I haven't had the chance to defend myself. First time I was complaining about the support, because the developer is vanishing for 11 month a year (and that is bad support - regardless what the forum guys do, and they do a good job). Second time it was a very mildly joke, also aimed at the support, Result was an immediate ban. I could work around both bans as I'm good connected in the flight sim world. I was never been banned before or after this in any forum in my lifetime! So don't say it is not accurate. I just warned that no one should criticize or yoke about the dev. March 27, 20188 yr Just finished a flight with ProATC 1.9.2.2 and things went perfectly fine. Yesterday I did my first flight and had a problem during approach which probably had to do with me using time accelleration while passing some waypoints that were close together. This evening I redid the exact same flight and all went perfectly fine. Just as was the case the entire last year or so whenever I used ProATC. Odd to read about bugs and crashes when nothing is going wrong here... I also think the guys at the forum are very helpful. No complaints there. The only complaint I have is that the dev (who never seems to visit the forums: those mods over there are all volunteers afaik) only releases an update once a year... But since things worked fine over here I don't really care.

March 27, 20188 yr I am pretty sure this app is a single developer with another job. That’s simply going to come with some negatives. Generally it’s taboo in the flight sim community to be unappreciative of what they do as we often consider even payware a product we should be thankful for and not a true consumer/business relationship. The power a consumer has when the developer doesn’t fully rely on the money becomes almost monopolistic in nature. Try being a real business and ban people for anything and see how far it gets you. But that’s just the way it is with supply and demand. There is a ton of demand for good ATC. There are like 3 guys working on it over their weekends. I am not sure how big the upside is or if developers see any. Right now you can pump out a reasonable ATC to bring some life to your sim and update once a year while being considered the best. Probably good side cash for the developer but when everyone flies the heavies and no one else can deliver what we want, this is what you get. Sadly to get the professional level and regular updates we want your going to need a big player to start controlling multiple aspects of the SIM and drawing the good talent. I think ATC is a gold mine. It’s easy to work across Xplane & P3d as PF3 has shown. There is hardly a clear winner and people want it/need it for the most realistic Sim possible.

Pilot2ATC is at least its equal in many areas, I think, and it and PF3 are both also one/several man operations that update a lot more frequently, especially when there are product-breaking issues for people. That said, yes, I think we are all aware that many developers in the FS community are doing it in their free time for very little money, and we should be thankful for what we get. But there are also some basic customer service aspects that should be provided for any product that you charge money for. Sometimes that part is lacking. Being a one-man shop isn't a good excuse.

I'll make sure I don't go near this one. Have been considering ATC addon for some time, just never pulled the plug because it seems they're all FAR from perfect. I have to say, in general, I've never seen product/tech support attitudes like I see with flightsim related products...some of the vendor responses about set your hair on fire...and except for the fact it's hard to come-by quality addons, many of them, ESPECIALLY PMDG, I would have abandoned and never given them another penny. I was actually temporarily banned from posting TWICE for the same issue, after a back-and-forth with the ever diplomatic Kyle Roberts/Rogers (whatever his name)...first ban by Kyle, second by Rob Randazzo. i7-6700k • Gigabyte GA-Z170X-UD5 • 32GB DDR4 2666 • EVGA FTW ULTRA RTX3080 12GB

For me ProATC is by far the best because (once installed and once you know how it works) it is by far the easiest to use and requires no setting up of a flight apart from entering departure and destination. Everything else is being taken care of by ProATC at the appropriate time. I absolutely LOVE that. Now others may have better voices or more realistic callsigns or whatever but they all require a lot more input. Now for ME this is the reason why ProATC is the best by far and since it has no problems on my PC I can live with onbe update a year. If someone has other priorities when it comes to ATC I can understand they prefer another. But as I said, this goes for all flightsim addons.
March 27, 20188 yr ok, just want to say, that I don't wanted to turn that thread into a developer bashing. Let's get us back to Pro Atc X itself, please! I don't think he will be doing to bad out of it. Matt D bought PTA for £10,000, in the first few months he said he made £150,000 and that was some time ago. PTA costs £15 PROATX is £50 x that by just a thousand £50,000, I would have a guess he could have sold 5,000 no problem that's £250,000 he might not be around for 11 months because he might be on holiday for 11 out of 12 months. Peter D must have been lol at the £30 x ????? how many FSUIPC v5 he has sold. Would not surprise me if he has sold 10,000 of them £30 x 10,000 =£300,000 - what ever simmarket take. No wonder he is always away. Good for him. Edited March 27, 20188 yr by Nyxx David Murden. Peter D has been ALWAYS there for me on a 10 to 20 min hold (at max) since time out of mind, circa 2003? But he is known to have a lawful vacation around Jan-Feb only each year. Peter D is really AMAZING, he is the BEST I've known in support. Thank you, again, Peter D!!! Edited March 27, 20188 yr by Dirk98
