They said in an interview recently done from BlueSkyRadio during FSExpo that 4.3 will be releasing by end of the month.

So there's still time.

Hi Simbol -- nice meeting you at FSExpo last weekend! It seems strange that LM would require a Win10 upgrade if they move to DX12. There are still a lot of people on Win7 and upgrading would be an issue (I really don't like the Win10 interface). I hope this isn't true.

Maybe because we were all mega busy getting ready for the Flight Sim Expo in Vegas? 

And now we are returning home, it was 12 hours of travel for me and the same for many other developers.

As I said before LM cares about the 3rd party developers, there is no point releasing 4.3 while we all would be unable to update products and give users support.

It was good to meet you too, I am glad you liked what I had to show :).

In answer to your question LM doesn't require Win10 to upgrade, it requires DX12 to give developers like me more power so end users can enjoy more amazing features.

Unfortunately Windows 7 is not supported by MS, it is on the extended life support which means it only receives security patches, so it will never be updated to use DX12.

People keep demanding more changes to the PD3 graphics engine and for this things need to move forward, unfortunately only Windows 10 can offer this.

Having said that, it is very possible you could still run future versions of PD3 under Windows 7, but it will not allow the simulator platform to take advantage of DX12 so although you could use it, certainly many new features would be disabled.

Agreed but a correction. Downgrading to Win 10. Bloody awful interface and no control over updates which seems to regularly mess up P3D. Worst OS since Win ME.

What does DX12 offer that makes it so compelling?

I hope the conference is there next year, and I get to meet all of you.  This year my schedule opened up on this past Friday, and just not enough time to bring me and the wifey to Vegas.

I live in the UK, the flight was almost 10 hours, but total between customs, airport transfers, etc. Goes almost to 13.

I landed this morning so I am at home very Jet lagged, if LM release anything this week would be a disaster as I am not on the mood for emergency developing changes! And the same would be for many others.

Just flight invited in Vegas to attend the next expo in Cosford, so you can come there if you want to meet us.

I really do not understand your position. It is the recommended OS for P3D by Lockheed Martin  😉

People with Windows 10 who hate default interface.  Just install classic shell (google it, it is free) and viola original start menu etc.  Windows 10 runs faster than Windows 7 on my newer hardware.  And new cpus will use Windows 10 anyway.  Such is life, have to move on

Maybe it is but that doesn’t mean it’s not without problems some of which have caused owners of some FS Labs aircraft to stop working. That has happened on more than one occasion.

People have had to wait for emergency releases before they can fly their aircraft again. I detest not having control over what updates are applied to MY computer. Note I said my and not Microsoft’s.

When I next buy a new computer I will have to have 10 so I will have to put up with it. Having owned a PC for over 25 years it will be the first time I’ve not had control over what is updated in my computer. Not all advances in technology are good ones.

Anyway, this is not the Win 10 forum and I have no wish to hijack the topic. So that’s all I have to say about it.

I do remember when V4 was released, there was mention by the LM team about the introduction of sloped runways at some point - possibly at the next big version release.  The terrain engine really looks tired with its snapping, popping,  slow loading impediment.  The other sim's engine (although I don't use it) is what we need terrain to look like - especially mountains..

so is it a non Starter hoping P3D will add things like Heat exhaust shimmering off of Jet engines?😮

Hi Ray-

You do have control over updates on your computer.

If you run Win10 Enterprise, everything is can be set.

Or, even tho' I run Enterprise, I just disable the update service in services.msc

Takes one minute.

My screen looks and runs exactly like Win7, with Win10 underneath. As mentioned above, Classic Shell (which is no longer being updated) and Stardock will get you where you need to be regarding the crappy Win10 tile interface.
