September 12, 20187 yr Isn't it kinda funny how the expansion is only $4 cheaper than the base? It's almost like a whole new addon. I guess adding people and custom jetways raise the price, but, if you think about it, FSDT's products that cost $30, are ACTUALLY worth, $30. FSDT KSDF has great buildings, SODE jetways, a working EMAS system, specular mapping, animated vehicles, fully customized ground and runways textures, 2D taxiway lighting, and the UPS cargo loading/unloading with GSX integration, GSX Level 2 has people, custom jetways you can replace, and more jetways. WOW! Honestly, this is my viewpoint, but I don't think it's worth $30. I think it's worth more like $20. In my eyes, I see an addon expansion much cheaper than the base product. The PMDG 737 base is $90, expansion is $25. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe FSDT thinks that it's good to sell a $64 addon with whizzing cars and low poly people. And no need to get all fired up at me FSDT.
September 12, 20187 yr I think GSX 2 is more for developers.Using it they could easily avoid making Jetways and just require people to have GSX installed. I have GSX 1 and I don't really care about moving PAX or editing Jetways (don't have time) so I probably will never buy it. MAYBE, if it was $10 or $15, you might buy it 😉 But again, price will never change, FSDT is really stubborn about pricing and the fact that sometimes the Couatl engine just breaks.
September 12, 20187 yr I will buy it after I recoup from paying my property taxes that are due at the end of the week 😱 The price does not really bother me. Yeah it may be a little on the higher side for something listed as an expansion. With the new features and moving people, the added customization at the gate with slewing objects and all that I'm sure took a big chunk of time to do. Possibly their wording could have been done differently, instead of it being an expansion to the original they could have dropped version 1 all together and listed this as the new GSX 2.0 and gave existing customers a discounted rate. But this is why I don't make flight sim addons, because I'm no coder or business man so I will leave the decision making to those who do that. Inflation is a fact of life. Something we all have to live with. We keep complaining about our heat, electricity, internet, food, gasoline (petrol for those of you across the pond) all keep getting more expensive. These developers have to deal with the same thing. Servers aren't getting any cheaper to host all of this stuff. Bandwidth is ever increasing. Lines of code are exponentially getting longer and taking more time to code as our addons get more advanced. Time is money. Is it done yet? When will it be released? Will it be freeware or payware? How much will it cost? Any updates on the progress? Will it work for Xbox? Can I be a beta tester? How's the performance in VR?

September 12, 20187 yr Now that version GSX 1&2 are the same installer how do you stop Live Update from installing GSX 2 in trail mode. What if you have to do a clean install? How do you remove Trail Mode or insure it's not running. Seeing mixed reports. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe FSDT thinks that it's good to sell a $64 addon with whizzing cars and low poly people. GSX has been released very early in 2012, and as of today, it has been updated for 6+ years FOR FREE. It will turn 7 the next January. Now, take any other flight sim developer out there, and count how many free updates they made in the past 7 years. They probably created brand new names like XYZ 2016, ZZZ HD, YTYZ Professional, ZZZ P3D, and they might have sold it with a discount, or not, that's not even sure. Some are even charging the full product price to update from FSX to P3D. We don't. And, when XYZ 2016 is released, I'm sure they stopped any development of the previous version. Yes, they offered you an "upgrade" price but, did you really had any CHOICE ? In fact, making a new version of a product, it's just like saying "You MUST pay the upgrade prince, otherwise you'll be forever stuck with bugs from the previous version. No, nobody is going to fix them, since we are all busy working on the current version." Instead, GSX Level 2 is an OPTIONAL expansion. The base GSX product is not dead. It's still continuously updated, right now. If there are issues in GSX, we'll fix them as it was the first day, because is still current, it's the same code for us, just with different branches to check if Level 2 is present. You complained about the supposedly "high price" of Level 2, but didn't said anything about the NEW HUMAN VOICES for Pushback and Deicing we added in this version, which are part of base GSX, so they are FREE. And yes, of course we had to hire a professional voice talent and yes, of course we had to pay him...you didn't. We could have created "GSX 2019" and, instead of making the new features something you buy only if you like them, it would be a mandatory purchase, and you were forced to buy the "low poly people" even if you were not interested in them, just to stay current. And, I'd say the passengers are only the eye candy feature we need to advertise the product on the internet and generate buzz. But the real value of GSX Level 2 is the Jetway Editor. Just wait until people will start sharing their own creation in quantity... And be grateful with fellow users who are buying Level 2 in quantity, because thanks to them, we can continue to offer free updates to GSX, even in the future. Even to those that bought it January 31th 2012, when it came out, and are not interested in "low poly people". Umberto Colapicchioni http://www.fsdreamteam.com FSDT on Facebook

Don't forget that Level 2, just like GSX, is entirely free to use at all FSDT airports, with no limitations. So, even if you are not interested in any way in having Level 2 features, all the extra files which makes the download bigger, which are the SODE jetway collection, will be needed for all the upcoming SODE updates all our sceneries that still didn't had them. We released the one for JFK already, but others will come very soon. And of course, we'll use it for all our future sceneries, like KORD V2. So, even if the installer has grown larger now, in the long run will be more efficient and easier to maintain and update, having all jetways/docking systems/marshallers in a single place (GSX), and keep the airport installers smaller, since they'll only need a small GSX .INI file to create all that stuff contained in GSX. And yes, the nag screen suggesting to buy Level 2 that comes when it's in Trial, CAN be disabled after the 2nd time it comes up, and won't come out ever again. September 12, 20187 yr But don't you realise Umberto, you are supposed to put all that effort and free time of yours into this, and give it to people for free. Heck, they deserve it, they've worked hard at whinging about it! Pretty simple, if you don't like it or the price, don't buy it. But don't start a thread complaining about it hoping that the developer will cave and give it to you for nothing. Geez.

September 12, 20187 yr I'm very happy with the product so far, and with the price. GSX v.2 looks like a complete rebuild of GSX and has tons of new features that make it a whole new experience. Well worth the money. It's not really an expansion because the whole old GSX is replaced. I like everything about it. Seeing the passengers actually walking onto the aircraft is amazing. The only thing that is missing is babies. No flight is without noisy babies and tots. FSDT, Great job with the new GSX. It's an outstanding addon. I dont even remember how many sceneries i bought for about the same price where i flew just 2 or 3 times at all. 3 hours ago, signmanbob said: The only thing that is missing is babies. Difficult enough to deal with them on a real world long haul flight ;)

It's the most innovative, non-flying , visual change we have seen in a long time. The gates and ramp service placement editor added to that makes it well worth the price. I have paid £30 for addons with far less added value before. One airport at that price gets you...........one airport. GSX L2 can be experienced at every airport. You need to put £30 for this addon into context.
