RTX 2080 ti P3D benchmarks?

Yes i’m reffering to the “position of the majority of simulator/graphical settings”.

i’m going to bed now, so no more testing today 😔🛫

Test for tomorrow

Set shadows for the outside view ( this is extra beside the internal VC settings )

Cast : terrain + clouds / Receive : Sim objects / Terrain / Vegetation

Shadow quality : High / Shadows distance : High

Make sure DL is on too.

AA set to 4X SSAA or 8x SSAA

The above are my settings and in detailed scenery with rainy weather + OC I have up to 100% more fps with my 2 1080Ti cards in SLI than with just 1 card. I have to add that I have a triple view setup.

As far as I have read the benchmarktests, a 2080 performs like s 1080Ti and a 2080Ti like a 1080Ti SLI setup..

Only Rob will outperforn all that with his 2080Ti SLI setup.

Thanks Chris. That’s solid data in a thread that is mostly pure speculation.

Appreciated.

Thanks for the vid, but please use the Distortion Fix for the fisheye view you now have :

Manage camera’s —> scroll to the bottom and check the Wideview fix. Save as a new view called WidevieW . Then choose Change view and the new WidevieW view. No distortion anymore ...

Well, I just installed my new RTX 2080 ti, coming from a GTX 1080.

I am running P3dV4.3 on a 4K monitor.

I am not going to bother you with all my settings, just say they are rather rather medium.

GTX 1080 : around 24 fps

RTX 2080 : around 24 fps

Yup, thats right, can't see much difference here...

Now please put on dynamic light and fly the fsl 320 into egll with a load of AI traffic on and orbx UK. And guess what you can put 19 gfx cards in sli it will be stutter and Shake like a crapping dog

Gerard,

Is AA necessary for UHD resolution? Either this is not a demanding enough test or we can save a fortune by sticking to the 10 series of cards.

I found my 1080 didn’t give me any extra fps over a 780 in FSX but it did when I switched to P3D. It may be that until the code is changed in P3D it cannot take advantage of the 20 series of cards.

That more severe test may give us an answer tomorrow.

Sorry, I could have stated that’s not my video. I just did a YouTube search and it seems this guy has posted a couple videos. He has one at EGLL and the performance was low 20s in the PMDG 747.

I understand that unlimited FPS will fluctuate and cause a lot of stutters as most games will do that. What I don’t understand is how you can be at an airport panning around with less than 50% resources on both CPU & GPU yet FPS drops to the 20s. What exactly causes that?

Normally no or little AA is needed for 4K, but If you use a stretched view over multiple monitors and use the Anti Distortion fix you will see some shimmering and less AA on your middle monitor. Than extra AA + max AF will help.

Hmmmm.. I thought they said "6X Faster Performance" ? I was hoping this card will increase the 20fps in P3D to 120fps.

Rule of tumb: Model number new card / Model number old card * 100%
So: the 2080Ti =  2080Ti / 1080Ti * 100% = 192.6% faster

Something isnt right here. I had about 40-50fps with SLI GTX970 in EKCH in the NGX and even a few extra fps with the 777.

at EKCH Gate A20 i have 58fps with the NGX and 45 fps with the the FSLabs A320 with a single GTX1080TI in 4K with medium to high settings like ultra shadows, maxed complexity ,tesselation,LOD,

Autogen on normal for vegetation and buildings.

Cloud shadows ,simobjects shadows on,buildings to recieve shadows as well.

Effects to max

For me, the biggest question is comparing the graphics card saturation point. Its either the GPU is %99 or below and the card is not impacting the FPS/smoothness without full clouds overcast/dynamic lights at 60 fps or pegged at %100 above overcast with 20 fps.

Now, when my 1070 is saturated, I switch resolution from 4k to 1080p which almost covers my needs in all cases.

My big question does going from a GTX 1070 to a GTX1080ti/RTX2080 move that staturation point enough to justify to cost.

I'd guess it's caused by the GPU starving for data that still has to be pushed out across the PCIe bus.  When I start at an airport, I generally select an outside view and pan 360 deg around the jet to force loading of all the airport objects and textures into VRAM...really smooths things out when taxiing or panning in an external view later.  Panning on the ground is problematic because the angular rotation rates are high and there tend to be a lot of objects nearby being rendered at the highest LOD.  If those objects/textures aren't already in video memory, you're forcing a massive loading event because of the rate at which the new (e.g. previously unrendered) objects are coming into view when panning.
