Possible flashlight for VC use in 4.4?

Recommended Posts

Can any developer put their two cents in and tell me if it would’ve too much trouble to make a universal flashlight tool for any VC with the new night environment for v4.4? I honestly like the new night effects in P3D a lot... I think it adds to the immersion but I can’t see lol. I was stumbling around in the VC for a least 10 minutes trying to look for the batt switch just to turn on the flood lighting. So maybe a flashlight tool would be useful that moves with the mouse icon so as you sweep the cockpit and it would light up anything maybe within a three inch diameter? And you can switch it on and off at will. Does that sound doable or is the idea more like something out of a Si-Fi movie?

I don't know why someone couldn't do it. X-Plane has had this feature for a long time, so it's doable.

Really?? Dang I honestly didn’t know I thought I just invented a new idea 😆. I should have gotten it patented before X Plane lol

The flashlight was a pleasant surprise for me when i started using X-Plane...it would be great to have something similar for P3D.

It’s needed now more than ever in P3D. Before, not so much. But since the sim got 100 times darker at night, I literally can’t see. It’s a nice feature but I have been flying the same aircraft for three years now, and I can’t find my way around the cockpit at night. If it weren’t for just pure memory I wouldn’t be able to fly at all past 5:30pm. So I was wanting a devs feedback to see if it would be easy to make a flashlight tool. Hell, it doesn’t even have to be Lockheed that makes one. Maybe Aerosoft, or Flight1, or any third party can whip one up. I’d pay $30 for a flashlight tool 😆

🤔 And this tool works with any third party VC?

you'll have to configure and save for each vc but yeah, for any 3rd party vc.

It's freeware now,  it used to be payware.

Another option, though not exactly immersion-worthy, is advance the P3D time preview until you find the battery switch and panel lights, and then be sure not to save the previewed time.

Thanks, I didn’t realize this included a flashlight.

I doesn’t. You have to create your own flashlight for each aircraft.

Hopefully a developer can come up with a universal flashlight utility addon.

Although you do have to create individual lights for each aircraft, the process is very simple.  This is certainly an excellent interim solution until something universal comes along.

This should be a built-in feature, just like in XP11.
