This is what I am referring to. SF needs to stay running per the manual if you want dynamic injection.

Only if you not running EF.

If you only have SF them you need to have it running.

If you guys don't mind, can you put setting you are referencing in the thread?

I'm Using AS+ASCA+SF3D per Joren's guide. Do I have to do anything different to get EF to play nice with the other addons?

Thanks for this discussion!

That looks like a quote from SF?

Yes, that is from SF manual. I saw your comment regarding running SF and EF together.. Make sense. Thanks

Subscribing to this thread.  I, too, am one of the confused potential customers haha.  And still confused even after talking to them in person at FS Expo last summer 😛

Does anyone use AS4+SF+EF with PTA custom preset? I am still waiting for a good feedback if this combo woks together with no problem. I read that many people had issues with VC if using EF with PTA. This is what holds me to install EF. I asked REX about it and I was told that it should not be an issue because EF uses its own layers. However other simmers said it does not apply to VC and VC could be messed up. I am curios if I need to unselect something in PTA to make it work with EF.

Thanks

OK To stip it down to basic's

While I bought SF and EF and had used SF for some time before, I was resistant to inject them into my present quite well-working installation. All discussion was quite "cloudy" and some of these shader issues, I admit, over my head.

Long story short: After you gave me some trust, I installed both of them yesterday, set EF to automatic and I really like what I see. Well-done and thanks, David.

No other shader program in use and no intention to mix several shader modifiers.

I'm even using the REX Weather Engine so far and it doesn't work this bad either, but I'll watch it under rmore varied conditions. I may exchange it with AS the next days, which is installed on my networked laptop with the bonus I can access the UI during flight.

Kind regards, Michael

Sure is. That pic looks very similar to the one I use on my profile.

Mine was taken from the plane (Row 1A) some years ago, around noon going from MMMX-MMVR

Thank you, everyone, for your input here.

Just to add my 2 cents here:

Current products:

  • REX 5 SKY FORCE - replaces the cloud models system with new cloud models and textures, new sky and moon textures.  Also, includes new lightning effects and environmental sounds.  It does have a weather engine, but this will be replaced.
  • REX 5 ENVIRONMENT FORCE - This is a universal tool that can be used to manipulate the environmental look and feel manually or automatically through various shader effects.
  • REX 5 WORLDWIDE AIRPORTS - This is a robust tool used to enhance the default airports (except 25 specialized airports) within the FSX and P3D world.  Includes upgraded airport key airport vehicles.
  • WX ADVANTAGE RADAR - Very powerful and accurate weather radar gauge that can be used any aircraft as a 2D panel.  Has an API for 3rd party developers to integrate into any aircraft.

Upcoming products:

  • REX 5 WEATHER FORCE - New advanced weather engine that will be a free add-on for Sky Force.  This will replace the current weather engine.
  • More products to be announced very soon!

Past Products:

  • REX 4 TEXTURE DIRECT / REX 4 TEXTURE DIRECT W/SOFT CLOUDS - All encompassing environmental texture replacement utility for clouds, sky, sun, airports, and water.  Does not include a weather engine.
  • REX 4 WEATHER ARCHITECT - Custom weather engine that allows the user to create weather.
  • REX 4 WEATHER DIRECT - Never released.
  • REX SOFT CLOUDS - Specialized cloud textures with a more volumetric feel.

So to clear things up, if I have REX4 Texture Direct, REX5 SkyForce 3D, REX5 Environment Force, and REX5 World Wide Airports HD, is the following how they should be used?

  • REX4 Texture Direct: Water Textures/Effects Only
  • REX5 Sky Force 3D: Sky & Cloud Textures/Effects
  • REX5 Environment Force: Inject all the textures dynamically
  • REX5 World Wide Airports HD: Airport Textures/Buildings/Lighting
