Not true for the last generations 🙂 A 4770k has almost the same single core performance as a top 2019 CPU.

Well, to be honest, this is only true if you assume that all 4770K users have their CPU overclocked to 4.3-4.5GHz on all cores. When comparing stock clocks, the 9900K (as "top 2019 CPU") comes with a whopping 5.0GHz single core turbo (compared to the 3.9GHz single core turbo) and together with the completely newer backbone (chipset, DDR4 RAM), a 9900K will outperform a 4770K in almost any current single core benchmark by a margin that is not only explainable with the different clock rates. As a user that switched from a 3770K running at 4.5GHz with 2133MHz DDR3 RAM to a 8700K running at 5.0GHz with 3200MHz DDR4 RAM (both builds using the same 1080Ti), all I can say that the difference in P3D was huge. And certainly bigger than the 11% clock difference would explain. Greetings, Chris AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, 2x32GB DDR5 6000MT/s RAM, MSI RTX 4090 Ventus 3X, Windows 11 Home, MSFS2024

The Devil's Canyon CPUs won't run reliably at 5+ GHz like the Coffee Lake chips. Best I could do with the 4790K was 4.7 HT off without crazy voltages. Silicon Lottery reported that 100% of the 8086K chips they tested did 5 GHz, and well over half could run at 5.2 GHz. Multiply that by a 10-15% IPC gain, and it's not at all "almost the same." June 26, 20196 yr Just saying!!! have my old 4790K at 4.8ghz with corsair 2666 c10 binned mems as base system ( testing P3D as base system ) run tested with this GPU.s 1060, 1070, 1080TI, 2080 , 2080TI. have compared it with the never chips with same gpu , compared to a +5ghz 9900k its a snail ,,, Just saying http://
June 26, 20196 yr That is what I wrote above: the closer the clock rates, the lesser the difference. June 26, 20196 yr 4790K with fast mems 4.4ghz comared to a 9900K with 3600mhz c16 mems XMP ( no 4266 c16 ) the single tread difference was 18% difference with same clockspeed 9.5% in my tests. it can be small differences to what other get , i know some tests is done with ddr4 2133 and 1600mhz DDR3 , i used 2666 c10 XMP DDR3 and 3600mhz C16 DDR4 for ddr3 you cant go much higher than that DDR4 i can run 4266mhz c16 as i do in my sim PC. The diff to a allout 4790k 5ghz fast mems compared to a allout 9900K is approx 25% . You have a span for non OC 9900k with slow mems compared to a allout 4790k diff the new one is only 5% faster on othe hand a allout 9900k compared to non OC 4790k with value select mems is over 50% It all depends how you have set up your system old or new , Edited June 26, 20196 yr by westman http://
