P3D v4.5 - in VC screen flashes briefly

Something must have changed people's settings then as this didn't happen before 1903 came out.

This is true.  It is either 1903 itself, or the way the NVIDIA drivers play with 1903.  In any event, glad there is a simple workaround.

Do you mean running in windowed mode AND using Windows10?  Because I've never had this before in win7.

Correct, this happens on Windows 10.

This is caused because you are using P3D in windowed mode, two posible solutions:

A)you can switch to full screen instead.

or

B) Enable tipple buffering with Vsync enabled which will also remove the issue.

Regards,

S.

Simbol, if I have a "tipple" I won't even notice the black flashes!

Argh....another reason to stick with xp11.  Or with win7.  Overall 10 is fine just getting used to the nuances (and how to disable stuff permanently lol)

How do I do triple buffering?  Is that a Nvidia CP setting?

That's a setting in the P3D graphics selection - VSYNC / Triple Buffering.

The specific feature causing this for me was having cockpit tool-tips "enabled" in the VC.  Disabling cockpit tool tips stopped the black flashes.  As was mentioned above, checking [enabling the check-mark] next to "Disable fullscreen optimizations" in the Prepar3D.exe properties also did the trick.

Oops I missed this I'll try that first!

Had this problem big time when in the QW787 VC

Anytime you clicked the autopilot or any other switch , the screen would flicker

Disabling full screen optimization solved the issues completely.

Inside P3D settings.

Also please note to all users using "Disabling full screen optimization" as a solution, that if you use FSLABS Airbus, this add-on will re-enable full screen optimization without your consent, and therefore it is recommended to use the triple buffering and Vsync enable inside P3D.

For what it's worth, I just unchecked "Disabling full screen optimization", re-enabled Cockpit Tooltips, have triple buffering and Vsync enable inside P3Dv4.5 (my default anyway)... and the problem has completely disappeared!  Not sure if one of the frequent 1903 updates corrected the issue, but my problem has now been eliminated in P3D.

Running Win10 v1903 (Build 18362.175) and NVIDIA GeForce 430.86 (released 5/27/19).  Latest 1903 cumulative update was KB4503293 (installed on 6/12).

Update:  Bummer, thought 1903 update had corrected the problem, but after a reboot, it returned..  So back to original solution... disable Cockpit Tool-tips.  I always have triple buffering and Vsync enabled in P3D, so that solution doesn't work for me.

Having a weird issue only happens in VC.  I'm also using windowed mode.

I get a brief but somewhat frequent black flash of the screen.

Here's a short video to illustrate this.  (Not the best video....the flash happens early on and then once or twice later)

Oh I'm also using Windows 10 now with all patches.

Its known issue but "Disabling full screen optimization" solved this issue for me from the first day of 4.5v.

Do you run in windowed mode though or full screen?

Hey @ryanbatcund, did disabling Cockpit Tool-tips work for your issue?

Gotta ask. But what is it with FSLabs and there you must have this set to this etc. Like if i change AA on restart. It comes up with OH you better set it to this. I KNOW what it is set to leave me alone.
