The Flight Sim series was long used as a tech demo for Windows, so using it for the same purpose again makes sense. Great place to showcase new cloud services related to gaming and visualization.

As for being on xbox.com, they have been expanding the Xbox branding to cover all gaming on both the Windows and Xbox platforms. Seeing as the Xbox One already runs a version of Windows 10, consolidating both makes sense.

Yes, I think that is the reason too.

By bringing MSFS to Win10 and XBOX Microsoft can showcase their technologies (Azure AI, MS Cloud, Bing Satellite Imagery, ...) to the common people like us, and most likely attract some big business contracts this way.

It's very simple. It was my daughter's birthday in March and I stole her birthday wish when I helped her blow out the candles on her cake.

Azure. It begins and ends with their progressive movement to a streaming game service and Flight Simulator will be one of their signature show pieces.

Back in the day they had no competition. Now they must start all over again.

But they created the competition. It's not as if someone came along and took their products from them. They sold them (or at least the licence to use them) voluntarily.

Come on guys, It's an embarrassment that you are not aware that Bill Gates no longer runs Microsoft & I'm sure does not read Avsim forums.

As it was acknowledged, MS does read these forums, & are probably laughing at posts like these!

I was actually laughing when I saw your this post. I think you just took my post too seriously that's all I have to say. 😅

I would speculate that VR brought them back to the table. Just imagine what a VR sim would do in sales for xbox, something that Sony wont be able to offer.

The longest running program outside of windows on the PC I think they have right to bring it back, you have the right not to buy it if you don't want to.
