August 11, 20196 yr .. totally confused, not so sure what is in MS mind at all ... not so sure what we need 3 Simulators that are basically the same FSX, LM PD3, and the new creature FS2020. Doesn't make sense at all .. any way, I'll stick with LR XP11 for now Cheers Yair

Yeah the hot takes in this thread are quite amusing. I think it's because people are fanboying for other sims. 5800X3D. 32 GB RAM. 1TB SATA SSD. 3TB HDD. RX 9070XT.
August 11, 20196 yr If MS plane to update FSX in a way, why not use DTG FSW as foundation, bec it has updatet scenery, it's 64 bit, it's planes looks great, just need to be finished with tubeliners, A.I.and it must be opened up to 3rd part developers like FSX and maybe rename it to FSX Classic or remasters (just a thought) - Dion't know about licencing af FSW (thinks it belongs to DTG but the engine is MS) What do you think ????

DT has invested good money optimizing and developing add ons for fsx . cost them not much to keep it with a nod from MS and a new agreement MS pulled the rug Tuck in, life is tough. Apart from anything else, DTG are still perfectly able to continue developing add-ons for fsx.

FSW was designed for 1080p monitors, so the texture resolution for planes, cockpits, and scenery probably wouldn't hold up at the 4k resolution that MS is promising for the new sim. The clouds looked horrible until they partnered with TrueSky towards the end, and I'm not sure MS would want to outsource the weather if they could do it internally. Not to mention, it would be WW3 like Dominique said above, if word got out that the "new" MSFS was a patched-up DTG Flight Sim World. I think everyone is expecting something new, not a Zombie flight sim back from the dead. I really want a new flight sim as much as anyone else here, but all this talk about FSX being dead or "a diminishing product" are simply not supported by the facts. Look at the Steam stats for FSX. It's never had less than 3000 players a day at any time in at least the last 3 years. That's really impressive for a niche product. And that's just for the Steam edition. 40 minutes ago, Paraffin said: Not to mention, it would be WW3 like Dominique said above, if word got out that the "new" MSFS was a patched-up DTG Flight Sim World. As long as it delivers everything that the trailer promises and gives us a truly impressive, modern flight sim, I don't think anyone will really be that concerned about what it's based on. And that's just for the Steam edition. Sure, but unless the new MSFS sim is spectacularly better than what people can get now with FSX, then there will be no reason at all for these users to buy the new one. Why would they? Especially if, as some of us suspect, there will be no backwards compatibility for addon aircraft and scenery. That was the lesson of DTG's failed Flight Sim World. I agree in principle that it doesn't matter what's under the hood, if it delivers what the market is looking for. We're just disagreeing about whether we think it's possible to do that by using FSX as a foundation. If it was possible to do much better using the FSX code, we would have seen it already from DTG's FSW, and from P3D, which has managed only marginal improvements. Nothing like what we see in the MSFS trailer. Edited August 11, 20196 yr by Paraffin X-Plane and Microsoft Flight Simulator on Windows 10 i7 6700 4.0 GHz, 32 GB RAM, GTX 1660 ti, 1920x1200 monitor
August 11, 20196 yr I, personally, would enjoy having a fixed version of FSX so that I could continue cloud and sky design as my hobby. Im very sure I wont be able to do that with the new sim. August 11, 20196 yr Any reason as to why you cannot carry on developing for FSX & FSX:SE? Robin "Onward & Upward" ... To the Stars, & Beyond...

If so, I don't use FSX because I couldn't get Steve's Fixer to work on my system alongside Orbx. FSX kept crashing at odd times. I went on to P3D and now Im trying to work with XP11. Its just for fun anyway. | Dave | I've been around for most of my life. There's always a sunset happening somewhere in the world that somebody is enjoying.
